Cuprous Bromide

Information on Cuprous Bromide Cuprous Bromide is a derivative of Bromine. Cuprous Bromide is soluble in water. Cuprous Bromide is a colourless to Pale Green coloured powder with a melting point of 492oC. It should be stored in tightly closed containers in a Room Temperature. CAUTION SENSITIVE TO LIGHT & AIR. Synthesis Manufacturing Process of Bromides The major raw material of all the Bromides is Elemental Bromine. Bromine was first discovered in 1926. Bromine occurs in the form of Bromides in the Sea Water & in Natural Brine deposits. Bromine brines are treated with Chlorine gas in presence of Air. During this process the Bromide anions are oxidized to Bromine gas by the Chlorine gas. Bromine is further reacted with either Sulphur or Phosphorous & water to give Hydrobromic Acid, which is the intermediate product in manufacturing of various Bromides.Cuprous Bromide is manufactured by treating Copper Sulphate with Hydrobromic Acid in presence of Sodium Bisulphate.

Ferric Ammonium Citrate

Information on Ferric Ammonium Citrate Green Ferric Ammonium Citrate Green is Inorganic compound. Ferric Ammonium Citrate Green is a Green crystalline powder with slight Ammonia odour. It is freely soluble in water. The green product is more readily reduced by light than the brown. The product should be stored in tightly closed container away from the source of heat & light. Synthesis Manufacturing Process of Ferric Ammonium Citrate Green The main raw material of Ferric Ammonium Citrate Green is Citric Acid. Citric Acid is available in two forms i.e. Anhydrous & Monohydrate. Citric Acid is produced by fermentation process in which a carbohydrate source is utilized such as corn based starch and sugar beet molasses. Fermentation yields a crude purity product which requires further refining. One refining technique utilities a precipitation process, this process first uses lime to produce calcium citrate solids, this is then treated with sulphuric acid which produces a partially purified soluble citric acid and calcium sulphate as a by-product. Another technique used is solvent extraction. These processes produce streams which require demineralization by ion exchange.Ferric Ammonium Citrate Green is prepared by treating Ferric Hydroxide in a solution of Citric acid & Ammonia.
