Granulation is one of the most important unit operations in the production of pharmaceutical oral dosage forms. However, there are many different technologies each having different strengths and weaknesses.
Granulation methods:
The fluid bed granulation process also known as agglomeration involves suspending particulates in an air stream and spraying aliquid from the top down onto the fluidized bed. Particles in the path of the spray get slightly wetted and become tacky. The tacky particles collide with other particles and adhere to them to form a granule.
Granulation can be performed using fluid beds fitted with spray nozzles. It is possible to have completely closed material handling by a closed linking with upstream and downstream equipment. Also, fully automatic cleaning in fluid beds using stainless steel filters now compares favorably with what is possible in a single pot. There are two different modes of fluid bed granulating:
Dry Stage:In Dry stage granulation, the particles only require a slight wetting to become tacky and stick to each other. The granulating solution is applied at a rate less than or equal to the evaporation rate. Thus the particles remain "dry" through the entire process.
Wet Stage:In Wet stage granulation, the particles require significant wetting before they become tacky enough to stick to each other. The granulating solution is applied at a rate higher than the evaporation rate until the particles build up enough moisture to granulate. The characteristics of the particles when wet and the type of granulating solution being used will determine which mode of granulating is most appropriate. While Dry stage is more common, Wet stage granulating allows for denser products.
Shree BHagwati Pharma Machinery Automatic Air Jet Cleaning Machine inbuilt Unscrambler of 30 Dia. is a compact unit used for cleaning of Dry Syrup bottles before filling.
This machine works on a principle of back pressure of Bottle which will be fed by the unscrambler to reach separator assembly, which transfer the Bottle on conveyor belt and pushes bottle to the cleaning section one after another. Machine consist of two inverters and one cleaning section. Bottle will be pushed by rotating separator towards the infeed inverter, which makes the Bottle in the wrong direction and push it to cleaning section through back pressure of other Bottle. Cleaning section is equipped with continuous vacuum system. Bottle reaches to the cleaning section, a pair of nozzle starts to flush the air inside the neck of the Bottle and simultaneously vacuum will suck the particle, disturbed by the air. Then Bottle passes to another inverter, where changes the direction to the right direction, further Bottle moves either to the filling machine.

Automatic Auger Type Dry Syrup Powder Filling Machine is a compact model used for filling Dry Syrup Powder in bottles.
The incoming dry bottle sterilized is fed through the in feed Turn Table with suitably guided on the moving delrin flat conveyor belt at the required speed for feeding. There are two separate filling head mounted on machine top plate in the same line. When bottle reaches to the first filling station, it will be held by the pneumatic bottle holder. Immediately it will be sensed by the bottle sensor as soon as it gets signals from sensor magnetic clutch starts to rotate which is mounted on auger shaft. It will fill the desired amount of powder to the bottle through auger, where rotation time is previously saved in PLC control. After filling of first bottle pneumatic piston goes back and release the first bottle to move on conveyor, By the same time second bottle also moves along with the first bottle in empty condition. In second filling head same operation will be performed but this time second bottle get filled and first bottle moves further for next operation. The main advantage of this machine is Pneumatic bottle holding system is directly connected with Auger rotation, so till bottle get filled with powder as per set value pneumatic system will not going to release the bottle.

SHPF-100 Automatic Monoblock Dry Syrup Powder Filling Cap Sealing Machine is a Compact machine used for filling and sealing of Dry Syrup in bottles.
The incoming dry container (sterilized and siliconised) are fed through the infeed Turn Table with suitably guided on the moving delrin flat conveyor belt at the required speed for feeding to the feed worm for correct spacing between two bottles and get enter into the infeed starwheel, which will be transferred below funnel, 16 nos. of funnel is mounted on round plate and powder filling head is mounted from centre pipe, which gives the flexibility to adjust position of wheel as per requirements and consumes less space on machine. Machine will be having a lifter assembly on base of bottom plate, when bottle come below funnel, bottom platform will lift the bottle and insert the bottle tight fit inside funnel. The sterilized powder is stored in to powder hopper is agitated by pair of mechanical agitators for maintaining consistency and uniform bulk density, powder wheel rotates at the pre-determined speed below the powder hopper with practically no clearance. Powder wheel consist of Piston in each port and behind the powder wheel and vacuum plate is provided there is no clearance between powder wheel and avacuum plate due to back spring pressure. Precise volume of powder is sucked in to the port of powder wheel during vacuum according to the piston length different fill size can be achieved. The excess powder is doctored off by a doctor blade, now doctor blades can be adjusted from outside also without removing powder hopper, when powder wheel indexes further and remain in the port due to the vacuum till it reaches just vertical position. The time dose of Compressed air, sterilized low pressure air or Nitrogen Gas sequentially flushes out powder from the port of powder wheel in to the funnel. Funnel will be equipped with square rod to break the solid slug of powder and powder will start to fill inside bottle, which is moving along with funnel. In this model Bottle is getting around 5 to 6 second filling time. Bottles further move with funnel and reaches to exit starwheel, which is infeed starwheel for eight head ROPP cap sealing machine, while rotating with startwheel bottle picks up the cap from exit end of chute, ROPP caps kept in orientation unit, automatically orient caps in right direction before entering into delivery chute. And Bottle is entering below the sealing head, consisting of total four rollers, Two rollers properly Skirts, Spins and Seals the cap and simultaneously another two roller performs perfect threading according to bottle neck diameter. After sealing operation, sealing head moves upward with help of cam and bottle enters into exit starwheel. Move further on conveyor belt for next operation.
