Jar Mill

MIKRONS® Jar mill updates and improves material processing through a simple yet efficient contamination free grinding process. They are designed specifically for applications where space is at a premium. Available in single and multiple tier models and with roll length of 300, 600, 900, 1200 mm.
 
The unique operating characteristics of our mill satisfy the most stringent requirements of the chemical, ink, paint, plastics, food and pharmaceutical industries. Our jar mills are ideal for grinding laboratory or high-purity samples. These mills provide quiet and smooth operation. The speed can be varied from 10 to 260 rpm using VFD.

Each tier accepts jars measuring 2 to 10" in diameter. Easily adjust the rollers and brackets to accommodate different jar diameters. Each tier has a maximum capacity of 30 lb (13 kg). Two-tier mills rotate several jars at one time to save horizontal space.

Attritor

MIKRONS wet grinding batch attritors are suitable for grinding highly viscous material such as latex, chocolate, nut, paste, paint etc.

Design Highlights
  • A recirculation pump is provided for discharging the end product from grinding chamber. This aids in accelerated and uniform attrition activity.
  • A gear tilting assembly facilitates easy removal of agitator shaft for cleaning.
  • The Attritor is filled with media and the grids restrain the media while the slurry is allowed to pass through.
  • The principle of circulation series is the high circulation pumping rate which forces the entire contents to pass through the Attritor several times per hour. This results in a faster grind and a narrower particle size distribution.
  • In this circulation process, the material passes through the grinding chamber multiple times until the desired particle size is obtained.

Bead Mill

Overview

MIKRONS Bead and agitator sand mills are widely used in Paint, ink & coating industries for size reduction and dispersing of pigments in liquids. Particle size reduction upto 2 microns are possible in a single pass.
Design Highlights
The feed to be processed is pumped from the bottom of the mill into the milling chamber which is filled with grinding media .The media is agitated by a shaft fitted with a number of impeller discs along its length. As the material moves upwards it is subjected to high hydraulic & shearing forces between the grinding media which results in fine grinding of the material. This material then passes through the screen which separates the media from the process material. All mills are provided with a jacket arrangement for cooling the material in the grinding chamber.

Ball Mill

Overview

Ball mill is an efficient tool for grinding many materials into fine powder. There are two ways of grinding: the dry process and the wet process.
Working Principle
Ball Mill consists of cylindrical shell rotating on a horizontal axis mounted on a sturdy Mild Steel Frame. The Ball Mill Shell is designed to withstand the rotational load of the mill charged with the grinding medium and the material to be processed. Openings are provided through which the grinding medium and the material to be processed are loaded and discharged. The Mill is driven by motor coupled to the Reduction Gear box with Chain and Sprocket arrangement.
Mill Linings :Ball and Pebble Mills may be lined with rubber, ceramic and wear resistant metallic liners.
Grinding Media :Mills may be charged with ceramic, steel and alloy steel grinding media. These are spherical or cylindrical in shape and range from 6 mm to 100 mm in size.
Continuous type Ball Mill
A cylindrical or conical shell rotating about a horizontal axis, partially filled with a grinding medium such as natural flint pebbles, ceramic pellets or metallic balls. The material to be ground is added so that it is slightly more than fills the voids between the pellets. The shell is rotated at a speed which will cause the pellets to cascade, thus reducing particle sizes by impact. It has been proposed that in the plastics industry the term ball mill be reserved for metallic grinding media, and the term pebble mill for non-metallic grinding media
Applications
Cement, silicate product, building material, fire-proof material, chemical fertilizer, black and non-ferrous metal, glass, ceramics and ore or other materials that can be grinded either by wet process or by dry process.

Planetary Ball Mill

Overview

MIKRONS Planetary Ball Mill pulverizes and mixes - soft, medium, hard to extremely hard, brittle and fibrous materials. It is used wherever the highest degree of fineness is required. Dry and wet grinding can be carried out in a planetary ball mill.
The grinding jars revolves horizontally in radial oscillations. The inertia of the grinding balls causes them to impact with high energy on the sample material and pulverize it. Also, the movement of the grinding jars combined with the movement of the balls result in the intensive mixing of the sample. The degree of mixing can be increased even further by using several smaller balls.
