The salient features are: it is a group of selective microbes responsible for treating wastewater naturally. It is a consortium of various microbes like lactic acid bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria, actinomycetes and yeast with a plate count of > 25 million. The microbes are facultative. They exhibit both aerobic and anaerobic characteristics. The microbes are cultured in a selective medium which contains various nutrients and herbal extracts to support the microbial population. It works in variable scenarios and extreme conditions such as different ph, temperature and salt concentration. These microbes are naturally isolated & none of them are genetically modified.
