The term 'Fabrication' applies to operations, such as: cuttings, stamping and punching of natural sheet mica to specified size, shape, thickness and design within close dimensional tolerance for electrical and electronic end-users. Normally, mica is fabricated with compound dies by foot or power punch process, especially if the finished piece contained perforation of any kind. A compound die punches the outside shape and all the inside holes with one stroke of the press most accurately. The compound die necessary for stamping natural sheet mica may be grouped in two general categories. One category comprises the highly complex dies required to produce Mica Spacers containing a number of perforations in various sizes and shapes for use in electronic tubes. The extremely critical dimensions and spacing of the perforations can be obtained only with fully designed and accurately constructed dies.

Mica capacitors are manufactured out of silvered mica plates staked alternatively between layers of metallic foils (brass, tin, alloy, lead or copper) and then clamped together to produce voids between the foils and the dielectric, as well as, to reduce the capacitance variation and size to improve stability. On each of the stake an annealed copper lead wire contact or terminal is soldered.

Combustion of its bonding agent will not result in exudations of deleterious nature. They can withstand temperatures up to 500 C in Continuous service and up to 800 C in intermittent service. They virtually release no smoke or odor when exposed to odor when exposed to heat.

Muscovite dry ground Mica is extensively used in mild steel rutile based welding electrodes. In welding electrodes a core of steel wire is coated uniformly with a flux comprising mica as a lagging compound. The mica coating provides two distinctive types of protection to the welding rods. Firstly, it serves in forming a fusible slag and a good seal at the fusion zone on the arc. Secondly, it resists the action of the heat, gaseous and other surrounding atmospheric oxidization. Nothing can substitute Mica for the above application. In fact, it is the nature of mica coating that largely determines the quality of welding electrodes.

Muscovite Powder is widely used as a filler in non asbestos acoustic products for treatment of automobile under- bodies and noise protection systems because of functional morphological and surface characteristics.
