DAs Seal is a double-acting seal and guide element comprising of a rubber seal, two split support rings and two split bearings, located either side of the seal. The profile seal ring seals in both the static and dynamic range whilst the backup rings prevent extrusion into the sealing gap. The function of the guide rings is to guide the piston in the cylinder tube and to absorb transverse forces. The design provides a compact seal andguide combination for a closed or split installation groove. It is a combination seals used in hydraulic applications as well as some heavy industries.

The nitrile rubber seal has proved itself to be extremely wear resistant in service. It is designed to be compressed by the housing to ensure a low pressure seal and when pressurised be protected from extrusion damage by the extending lips of the support ring. A tough flexible polymer is used for the support ring which is scarf cut for assembly and to protect the seal from damage. This type is characterized by a Z-shaped back-up ring which forms a chamber with the elastomer seal ring on the inside and is centered on the outside by the guide ring.

Piston Seals or Piston Rings are used in hydraulic cylinders for fluid sealing and are designed to ensure that pressurised fluid does not leak across the cylinder head as the system pressure pushes the piston down the cylinder bore.

G.I Flexible Pipe are frequently used as flexible temperature-resistant and ageing-resistant elements in exhaust equipment, especially in trucks and special vehicles such as tractors. They are also used as protective hoses for light conductors and electrical lines in fibre optics, or in measuring and control equipment. As miniature hoses with diameters ranging from 2.0–0.3 mm, they are also employed in medical technology, such as for endoscopy.

In addition, stripwound hoses are used for extracting and conveying substances such as smoke, shavings, granulate, etc. They are also suitable as protective hoses for corrugated lines to prevent over-extension and to act as a liner (guide hose inside a corrugated hose) to optimise flow conditions.

Stripwound metal hoses also include “bendable arms”, or “swan necks”. These consist of a round wire coil over which a triangular wire is wound. They can be bent in any direction and remain stationary in any position. These are used for the flexible supports of lamps, magnifying glasses and microphones, for example.

Screw clamps consist of a galvanized or stainless steel band into which ascrewthread pattern has been cut or pressed. One end of the band contains a captive screw. The clamp is put around the hose or tube to be connected, with the loose end being fed into a narrow space between the band and the captive screw. When the screw is turned, it acts as aworm drivepulling the threads of the band, causing the band to tighten around the hose (or when screwed the opposite direction, to loosen). Screw clamps are normally used for hoses 1/2 in diameter and up, with other clamps used for smaller hoses.

Pairs of screw clamps on a short rubber unit form a no-hub band, often used for attaching sections ofdomestic wastewaterpiping, or used for other pipes as a flexible coupler (to fix alignment difficulties or to prevent pipe breakage due to relative movement of sections) or an emergency repair.

They can also be used in a similar way, as a simple means for the transmission of small amounts ofpower. A short length of hose is clipped between twoshaftswherevibrationor variations in alignment may be taken up by the flexibility of the hose. This technique is well adapted to use for mock-ups in a development laboratory.
