Air-entraining s cause small stable bubbles of air to form uniformly through a concrete mix. The bubbles are mostly below 1 mm diameter with a high proportion below 0.3 mm. The benefits of entraining air in the concrete include increased resistance to freeze-thaw degradation, increased cohesion (resulting in less bleed and segregation) and improved compaction in low-workability mixes.
The volume of air entrained depends on the application and the mix design. After mixing, air can be lost during transport and pumping. Allowance should be made for this so that the correct level of air is obtained in the hardened concrete. This may mean testing at the point of discharge rathr than at the batching plant. Air entrainment reduces the density of the mix and increases yield. This needs to be taken into account when batching and mixing.
Naphtha Formaldehyde Based Admixture is a high range, low dosage, super plasticising admixture for slump retention. It is a product based on refined Naphthalene formaldehyde blends.
Primary Uses:To produce self-compacting flowing concrete. To produce high early strength concrete and for delayed slump retention and for long over hauls.
It is a high performance, chloride-free water reducing cum Concrete Admixture agent for mortars, concrete and lightweight aggregate mixes. It brings about entrainment of innumerable microscopic air bubbles of suitable size and spacing evenly distributed throughout the matrix. It lowers the surface tension of the mixing water. As a result there is considerable reduction in the amount of mixing water required. The plasticizing nature of air entrainment assists in producing a dense, uniform close textured surface free from gravel nests and honeycombing. It is compatible with all types of cements and avoids efflorescence and bleed in concrete.
Advantages:It is especially suitable for preparation of concrete and plaster and masonry mortars to be used in marine atmospheres and in marine construction. It can be effectively used as an admixture for concrete prepared at site, ready mix concrete and light aggregate concrete. It is particularly suited for pre-cast industry.
