thanksgiving cactus is also commonly called the holiday or crab cactus. it grows best in light shade. full sunlight is beneficial in midwinter, but bright sun during the summer months can make plants look pale and yellow. ideal growth occurs at temperatures between 70 and 80 f during its growing season from april to september. do not let temperatures rise above 90 f once the flower buds are set in the fall. continuous warm temperatures can cause flower buds to drop.
the secret of good flower bud production involves temperature and dark (photoperiod) control. for best flowering provide 1) bright light, 2) night temperatures between 55 and 65 f, and 3) long nights thirteen hours or more of continuous darkness each day is required before flowering will occur. long nights should be started about the middle of september and continued for eight weeks.
water the growing medium when it is dry to the touch. the holiday cactus is tolerant of dry, slightly under-watered conditions. do not let the soil become waterlogged, especially during the dark days of winter. do not let the soil dry out either. reduce watering from fall through spring. fertilize plants monthly from the time new growth starts in late winter or early spring, and throughout the summer using a one-quarter strength soluble fertilizer. reduce fertilizer during the fall and early winter.

Crosby Dwarf is a popular cultivar of Crassula ovata that is only found in cultivation. However, the straight species is endemic to the rocky slopes, fields, hills, and ravines of South Africa, being very common within the Eastern The Crosby dwarf is a compact, multi-branching succulent that possesses shiny, yellow-green, pear-shaped leaves with red margins. Mature plants will develop a woody stem and thickened branches, while the leaves will become deciduous.
Both the foliage and form of the Crosby dwarf are smaller than the straight species, and the red margins are more defined. Although C. ovata will develop a tree-like form, C. ovata Crosby Dwarf will not exceed 3 feet in height or width. Sedum morganianium Burrito is a succulent plant that grows in cascading habit (1, 2, 3, 4). Its stems initially grow in an upright orientation, until their increasing length causes them to slump in a weeping fashion (1, 2, 4). The pendulous branches can grow up to 3ft in length and become quite heavy from the weight of its leaves. The leaves are each less than an inch long, have a green-blue hue and a powdery bloom coating their surface, sometimes giving it a silver coloration (1, 2, 4, 9). Traditional Sedum morganianum and the Burrito cultivar are nearly identical in appearance, aside from one key difference (4, 9, 10). The leaves of both are fleshy and turgid, however, Sedum morganianum has pointed leaves whereas the Burrito cultivar has more blunt, rounded leaves (1, 2, 4, 5). The leaves are densely packed along the stem in a spiraling position, and they are quite delicate, easily being dislodged from the stem when handled (1, 2, 6, 9). Its flowers are less than an inch long and form on a pendulous cyme, usually having 1-6 flowers, each with a star shaped corolla of five petals (1, 2, 3, 4). The petals range from pink to red in color, with bright yellow stamens, and the corolla is encased in a green fleshy sepal structure with light pink streaking (1, 2, 3). Foliage is covered with white bristles, which turn into tufts on the leaf tips. It is commonly called the Firecracker Plant because of the bright red and yellow flowers. Rosettes grow up to 3 cm in diameter.

Environment: Be careful never to let water sit in the rosette as it can cause rot or fungal diseases that will kill the plant.
Remove dead leaves from the bottom of the plant as it grows. These dead leaves provide a haven for pests, and Echeveria are susceptible to mealy bugs.
When the plant outgrows its pot, allow the soil to dry out and then gently remove the succulent. Remove any rotted or dead roots and leaves. Treat any cuts with a fungicide then repot succulent in a large pot, spreading the roots out as you backfill with soil.

Graptopetalum filiferum is a unique clump forming succulent plant, grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) before sprouting pups and forming a cluster. Individual rosette is up to 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter, almost flat to the ground, with about 75-100 leaves densely shingled, re-curving downward with a bristle at the end, and forming a symmetric silver-green mound. Trichocereus bridgesii mostruosa inermis (clone a short type) is often known by the name Penis Plant, it is much slower growing than the standard form of the species. This is the clone a (The short jointed one), one of the two Montrose form T. bridgesii It is a clustering monstrous cactus with prostrate growth habit that branches at the base and can slowly grow up to 25 (40) cm tall. There exist several mutant varieties of this T. bridgesii that are highly prized by cactus impassioned. Haworthia attenuata is a stemless clustering perennial succulent. The rosettes are up to 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter, with 30 - 40 dark green leaves, up to 3 inches (7.5 cm) long with white tubercles. The Inflorescence is up to 16 inches (40 cm) tall, white flower with green veins.
Haworthia are not considered difficult houseplants to grow. They are often grown in small clusters in wide, shallow dishes. Over time, clusters will naturally enlarge as the mother plant sends off small plantlets. When the cluster has outgrown its dish, repot in the spring or early summer into a new wide and shallow dish with fresh potting soil.
