O.T liquid is acidic in nature. Handle it carefully. If falls on hand, wash it immediately. Do not inhale it.

 

Estimation of Chlorine with the help of Ltek''s Chlorine Tester

The ''Chlorine Tester'' uses the Acid Orthotolidine Method to determine the chlorine concentration in water. The test is based on the fact that when one or two drops of Orthotolidine reagent are added to a test tube containing the sample of chlorinated water, the water sample develops yellowish colour. The depth of developed yellow colour depends upon the chlorine content in the water sample.

 

Procedure to use Chlorine Tester

  • Fill the water to be tested in transparent plastic/glass tubes.
  • Insert this third tube in the middle hole of chloroscope.
  • Keep one tube in right hole & another in left hole.
  • Close Chloroscope with the cap, yellow colour in the middle
  • In the third tube put two drops of O.T liquid & shake. lf chlorine is present then it will turn yellow
  • Obtained yellow colour in the middle tube, compare it with standard level and note the reading.

 

Storage

  • Keep away from light & moisture. Standard filter is likely to fed if not properly stored.
  • The yellow colour of this water sample in the test tube is compared with the colour standards in the chloroscope. Each colour standard in the chloroscope is labelled with the correct degree of chlorine concentration it represents such as 2.5 ppm, 2.0 ppm., 1.5 ppm, 1.0 ppm, 0.5 ppm, 0.2 ppm, 0.1 ppm and 0.0 ppm. The intensity of colour increases with an increase in the ppm figure. Thus by comparison with the colour standards in the chloroscope one can measure in ppm the chlorine content of the water sample. It is so easy to use the chlorine tester that even a layman himself can carry out the above test for chlorine content in water.

 

Important

For proper chlorination of water, it is desirable that 0.2 ppm of residual chlorine should be present in the treated water.

Principle

Fluoride Field Test Kit is a simplest Water Analysis Kit based on the principle of visual colour comparison. Colour is instantly developed in the water sample by adding colour-forming reagents. Developed color is visually compared with the standard Fluoride colour chart & read the result directly to assess the Fluoride level. This is the approximate concentration of the Fluoride in water sample.

 

Procedure to use Fluoride Tester

  • Keep the standard Fluoride Colour Chart in the Chart Holder.
  • Collect the water sample to be tested in the beaker.
  • Take one tube, rinse it well with sample water & fill it up to mark (4 ml).
  • Now add drop-by-drop Fluoride Reagent Solution till it reaches to the upper marking, which is 5 ml & mix well.
  • Colour will be developed instantly. Keep the test tube in the slot provided on the chart holder.
  • Compare the developed colour with that of standards on the chart. Colour which matches or nearly matches with the developed colour is the reading for Fluoride concentration in ppm or mg/liter present in the water sample.
