Tap Collets manufacturing and supplying by LEXIS are with High Quality and Accuracy. Lexis tooling offers the most extensive program for tapping collets in the industry. Tapping collets will allow user to convert collet chucks used for many purposes into tapping chucks. ER Tapping Collets with Square Drive for synchronous tapping operations using any RD/ER collet chuck. Collet bore is exact tool diameter, with square drive, for accuracy and rigidity. Square in the ER Tap collet is offer tight grip for Tap which reduces slippage in Collets. Available sealed for coolant-through applications, as well as in DIN and JIS standard metric sizes.

Traub collets using for work piece clamping and bar or chuck work. No axial movement while the chuck is clamping. The collets are made from special spring steel. Where possible, by partial tempering the hardness of the taper and clamping bore is approx. 60 HRc. The shank and spring area are hardened to spring. Bore smooth and with round grooves from 6.0 mm, serrated in the case of round bores greater than 9.0 mm for higher clamping force. The clamping taper is lightly ground at the slot edges to ease removal of the collets from the mounting thus making possible low undersized clamping. The taper of the clamping sleeve should be 15 per side flatter than the taper angle given in the tables. This frees the collets on release and provides low undersized clamping. In the case of stepped bores or when using collets stops the clamping point should be within the taper of the collet, otherwise the collet will tend to break due to bending stresses.

Collet nuts are designed to collapse with 1mm or .039. Never try to install a cutting tool with a larger shank than the maximum or nominal diameter of the collet to expand the collet. For example: If the cutting tool shank is 4.2mm a 4-3mm is not suitable. A 4.5-3.5mm collet would be required. Sealed Collets for coolant through applications do not have a collapse range, and must be used at exact size. Maximum tightening torque for ER40 Collet is 90 ftlbs.
