Ayurveda recommends frequent and generous oiling of hair to nourish it, maintain its health, promote hair growth and cool down excess Pitta in the body. This is especially important if you have high premature greying and would like to colour your hair.
The Krya range of natural hair colours is desigend to provide a safe and toxin free alternative to synthetic hair colours and dyes. The Krya range of colour support hair products like the Krya creamy colour strengthening hair mask and the Krya Vibrant hair oil are designed to support the healthy growth and nourishment of coloured hair.
With the lack of availability of safe, well researched natural hair colours, we anticipate a lot of transition from chemical hair colours into the Krya range of natural hair colours. we therefore anticipate that the hair will be damaged, rough, and porous with heavy cuticular damage. From an Ayurvedic perspective, hair colours increase both pitta in the scalp and also dry out the natural oils in the hair increasing vata dosha. So the products we formulate are aimed at bringing excess pitta and excess vata back to balance. Interestingly, the Krya range of natural hair colours are pitta reducing as is advised by Ayurveda for any hair application.

The Krya Vibrant hair colour hair oil: designed to work with coloured hair to restrore its texture, elasticity and health
Ayurveda advises us to use specific herbs in oils in applications that are designed to calm down excess pitta and vata. Therefore we use strongly Pitta reducing and hair nourishing herbs like Indian Gooseberry, and Yellow Eclipta in our formulation. To reduce the dryness and itchiness in the scalp brought on by the dry heat caused by synthetic colouring, we use herbs like Alkanet and Indian Liquorice. To work on the dryness in the scalp and gently work with the scalp to restore the natural oils, we use butters like kokum butter in the formulation. With the sharp rise of stress at work, difficult deadlines and long commutes, we are seeing a different kind of hairfall today one that is caused by a high degree of mental stress.
Ayurveda tells us that a high degree of mental stress can excite vata dosha. In these situations we would typically see an inability or difficulty falling asleep, an inability to focus, severe restlessness, varying appetite with occasional binge eating, difficulty in switching off after work and a very high use of laptops or cell phones as you continue to work long after normal work hours.
Sometimes this is accompanied by dry skin, dull hair, severe hair breakage and aches and pains in the body especially across the back and musculoskeletal system.
What happens to hair during stress?
Sudden, inexplicable hairfall
Stress takes about 180 days to show up on hair, so when we receive complaints of sudden, inexplicable hairfall, we try and trace events that occurred about 3 4 months back to understand the cause.
Stress appears to excessively stimulate our androgenic hormones, perhaps to help with our flight or fight response. While the physical pathway of how stress works continues to be unravelled, its net result on hair and skin is quite certain.In times of stress, your hairs Anagen phase abruptly shifts to Catagen phase. In normal hair, atleast 85% of hair is supposed to be in Anagen phase at any point of time, and only 1% transitions to Catagen phase.
This ratio is altered in times of stress, as a large proportion of Anagen phase hair shifts abruptly to the Catagen phase. This causes asudden loss of much larger amounts of hair.
Drying out of scalp and hair
High stress and therefore excitation of vata dosha increases dryness across the body. In hair, this dryness shows up as hair that looks dull, that is extra frizzy, that gets tangled easily, and that has a lack of lustre. In addition you may find an increase in spilt ends and hair breakage

Not only is Brahmi a great aid to memory, it also helps calm and soothe down overwrought nerves and aids good sleep. Along with Brahmi, the Krya harmony hair oil also uses powerful hair restoring and nourishing herbs like Indian gooseberry, Chebulic Myrobalan, Nutgrass and Moringa leaf. The Role of Hair Oil in hair care as per Ayurveda:
Regular and frequent hair oiling is strongly prescribed in Ayurveda to maintain hair health, to retain hairs natural colour and prevent greying, and to improve hairs strength, growth and its length. Hair oiling is especially vital in Pitta prakriti hair.
Pitta prakriti hair is usually described as normal to oily and tends to suffer from symptoms of Pitta dosha aggravation like premature greying, hair thinning, oiliness, scalp greasiness, etc. When Pitta prakriti hair is regularly massaged with the right hair oil, it supports the healthy release of sebum and ensures it is neither too much nor too little. The scalp is kept supple, healthy and well nourished. Excess Pitta is released through the minor openings in the scalp. Hair is firm, well rooted, does not thin easily and greying is delayed.
Hair oiling is not just good for the care and nourishment of the scalp and hair. It also helps balance excess Pitta in the body as a whole, and brings better health to the body. This is an Ayurvedic practice that should be re-adopted by everyone for better health.
How is the Krya Classic hair oil different from other hair oils in the market? Why is it good for my hair?
Almost all hair oils commonly available in the market are made using Light Liquid Paraffin, hexane extracted base oils and synthetic herb extracts (if claimed). They also use synthetic colours and perfumes and often synthetic silicones that coat the hair masking hair damage. Synthetic hair oils are hence, non-sticky and light to use on the hair.
BUT, the constant use of this kind of synthetic hair oil can clog the pores of the scalp, aggravate Pitta dosha in the body, accelerate hair greying and also cause allergic reactions to the dyes and fragrances in the oil. Certainly, constant use of these synthetic hair oils will not nourish the scalp, promote hair growth or improve the health and texture of the hair.

Will use of the Krya Classic hair oil make my oily scalp oilier?
NO! Regular use of the Krya Classic hair oil, weekly application of the Krya Classic hair mask, and washing your hair with the Krya Classic hair wash, will balance out aggravated Pitta dosha in your hair. So your scalp will be more balanced, greying will be reduces, hair fall will be under control and hair will be thicker, stronger and have better strength.
AGood Ayurvedic hair oil is GREAT for hair. We have been unfortunately turned away from the benefits of good Ayurvedic hair oil through false marketing and propaganda designed to sell petroleum based synthetic products.

Sizing & Number of Uses per pack
The Krya Classic hair oil is a 100 ml pack. When the bottle is used as instructed, it lasts between 1 - 1.5 months for below shoulder length to waist length hair. Very dry scalps can absorb surprisingly large amounts of oil, so usage also depends upon your individual prakriti and state of your scalp and hair.
The Krya Classic hair oil is a whole plant and cold pressed vegetable oil and butter based product. It is cruelty free and vegan.
