Measures minimum, maximum and real time values of sound levels (noise levels). Maximum hold updating and display facility is also provided.

In maximum hold updating mode, previous maximum value of the sound is displayed and the same remains unchanged until a higher value is detected. Choice of A and C weighting modes is provided. In A weighting mode, -8928 response matches the frequency spectrum of the human ear. A weighting response is useful for OSHA regulatory testing, environmental measurements, work place design, low enforcements etc. In C weighting mode, -8928 response matches the flat frequency spectrum with no increase or decrease of amplitude over the frequency spectrum. C weighting response is useful for sound level analysis of engines and machinery.

Fast and slow response modes are provided to suit different applications and standards.

With this handy instrument entire test sequence is simple. Place the scan hand on the work piece and move it so the impression appears near the middle of the screen. Just click mouse on "Auto" in tool bar on computer screen. The B.LA.S automatically measures the diameter of indentation with resolution of 0.01 mm and displays Brinell value with diameter measurement. All data storage functions are automatically performed according to batch parameters.

An unlimited number of batches can be created each with its own test parameters and certificates. The operator can select test load and indenter size with party name, address, certificate No, date batch No. and description, high and low limits for readings etc. The previous batches can be reopened for viewing and address change etc.The B.LA.S has built in statistical capabilities with graph and certificates for report generation and printing. It includes frequency distribution and variation graphs.The system includes calibration and check facilities to calibrate the system and for checking of calibration. This eliminates any system error in measurement.

• The aux. supply to the instrument is protected by a surge-suppressor against line surges. However inductive loads such as a contractor-coil, heavy-duty transformers, etc. should not be connected across the same supply.
• The voltage sensing circuit is protected by a heavy-duty metal-oxide varistor of 500V rating connected across the load terminals. Hence the load supply should not exceed 500VAC.
• The current sensing shunt is protected by a replaceable glass-cartridge fuse on the rear
of the instrument. This glass cartridge fuse should not be replaced by fuse of higher ratings or wire shorts. Otherwise the instrument may get damaged.
