Moving Bed Bioreactors (MBBR) biologically treat wastewater by circulating moving media in aerobic and anaerobic activated sludge environments. MBBR systems are an ideal treatment solution for high-strength wastewater or siting applications requiring a compact physical footprint. Upgrading existing treatment plants into MBBR systems can greatly enhance biological nitrogen removal (BNR) – expanding treatment capacity and improving effluent quality with no additional footprint expansion. The moving media is typically a floating plastic substrate colonized by a community of bacteria called a biofilm. Increased levels of biofilm enhance the biological treatment process by introducing a more robust microbial community to break down nutrients. Independently-moving carriers continually circulate through aerobic bio-reactors in a random motion, ensuring excellent oxygen and substrate transfer to the biomass.  With the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) KANKYO offers an economically solution for wastewater treatment or if applicable discharge regulations are not as strict. With this application we offer advanced wastewater treatment solutions for the industrial and municipal markets. These solutions significantly increase the capacity and efficiency of existing wastewater treatment plants, while minimizing the size of new plant deployments. Two versions of the MBR process are offered by KANKYO, the KANKYO Submem and the KANKYO Crossmem. The KANKYO Crossmem is based on a cross-flow filtration process. The biomass is filtered in a filtration unit besides the bioreactor. The KANKYO Submem is based on filtration with submerged membranes that are submerged in the Membrane bioreactors for wastewater treatment is a combination of a suspended growth biological treatment method, usually activated sludge, with membrane filtration equipment, typically low-pressure microfiltration (MF) or ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. The membranes are used to perform the critical solid-liquid separation function. In activated sludge facilities, this is traditionally accomplished using secondary and tertiary clarifiers along with tertiary filtration. The two general types of MBR systems are vacuum (or gravity-driven) and pressure-driven systems. Vacuum or gravity systems are immersed and normally employ hollow fiber or flat sheet membranes installed in either the bioreactors or a subsequent membrane tank. Pressure driven systems are in-pipe cartridge systems located externally to the bioreactor An “MBR System” is considered to be a complete and integrated membrane unit (sub-systems) with related components necessary to allow the process to function as desired. An MBR, or Membrane Zone, can best be described as the initial step in a biological process where microbes are used to degrade pollutants that are then filtered by a series of submerged membranes (or membrane elements).  The individual membranes are housed in units known as modules, cassettes, or racks and a combined series of these modules are referred to as a working membrane unit. Air is introduced through integral diffusers to continually scour membrane surfaces during filtration, facilitate mixing and in some cases, to contribute oxygen to the biological process.   Advantages   Very stable process The conventional biological system is sensitive to the wastewater composition. Due to variations in wastewater composition and/or presence of complex or toxic substances, high salt concentrations or low oxygen concentrations, the biomass floc formation is poor and the settling process will not perform well. This results in discharge of the micro-organisms and poor effluent quality. The membranes will however withhold all biomass and other suspended solids, ensuring a high effluent quality. Very compact design Due to the membrane separation the active micro-organism population in the bioreactor can be maintained at a concentration 4-5 times higher than in conventional systems. This results in bioreactor tank volumes of only 20-25% of the size of conventional systems. A clarifier, being a space-consuming tank, is not required. High effluent quality The ultra filtration membranes withhold all micro-organisms and most suspended solids, resulting in a clear and highly purified effluent. The effluent may be reused as low-grade process water or for irrigation purposes. Low sludge production The MBR can operate at a low F/M ratio, being the Feed of organic substance per amount of Micro-organisms per time unit. This results in a high mineralisation of sludge. In conventional systems 1 kg COD will result in about 0, 3 -0, 4 kg of biomass. With MBR systems 1 kg COD is converted to 0 - 0, 2 kg biomass (zero biomass production can be obtained when operating at high temperatures). Kanyo in collaborating with Daimaru Seisakusho Co, Japan has brought in an innovative green technology for mixed waste.   What is Super Waste Processor?   Super Waste Processor(SWP) is organic waste decomposer. SWP is equipment which carries out the annihilation disposal of the garbage. SWP have designed by considering a price, a fuel cost, the cost of equipment, and maintenance expenses at worst, and developing them compared with the processing machine of the existing garbage. Although it seems that it is thought few that the throughput of a substance is considered compared with the incinerator of the other company, at few fuel costs and maintenance cost, without burning, it disappears and garbage is lost. Since decomposition processing temperature is around 350 degrees, there are almost no worries about dioxin. If the total amounts, such as a maintenance cost, are considered as compared with the product of the other company, even if it installs the number according to the throughput of garbage, worthy enough product and our company have confidence.   Achievements   1. Inhibition of environmental pollution: dramatic reduction of pollutants (e.g., CO2, dioxin, SOx, NOx, soot, ash, smoke, waste water, organic pollutants, etc.) 2. Biogas is an all-rounder among renewable energies. It can be converted to electricity and heat or be used as a fuel and natural gas equivalent.  Organic wastes such as live stock excreta and food residue pose a serious environmental risk in terms of air and groundwater pollution. KANKYO Biogas plants provide a proven solution to this problem by converting these materials into heat and electrical energy and leaving behind safe, environmentally friendly fertilizer.  Biogas is a combustible fuel which is produced through the anaerobic digestion process. Anaerobic means “in the absence of oxygen”. In the right set of circumstances, the organic fraction of liquid or solid biomass is converted into valuable fuel. Biogas consists of roughly 40% – 70% methane, with the rest being CO2 and trace amounts of H2O, H2S, H2 and NH3 produced by the microbiological process. The amount of methane in the biogas is largely a function of the organic input menu. Liquid and solid manure, vegetable waste, grocery store waste, fats, oils, and greases (FOG), slaughterhouse waste, and selective energy crops, like corn, are ideally suited as inputs to a biogas plant. Biogas, when utilized in a combined heat and power (CHP) unit produces electrical energy for sale and heat energy for use locally. The heat produced by the CHP is used to heat the digestion process to improve biogas yield. Biogas can also be cleaned up for injection into the local natural gas grid or as a vehicle fuel. The remaining byproduct of the digestion process is digestate which is a fermented organic material which may be used as high quality fertilizer.
