Gymnemic acids are glycosides isolated from the leaves of Gymnema Sylvestre (Asclepiadaceae). Gymnemic acids like ziziphin and hodulcine are anti-sweet compounds, or sweetness inhibitors.
Its use has been confined primarily to the management of diabetes. The leaves also have been used for stomach ailments, constipation, water retention, and liver disease.
Bacopa monnieri is a perennial, creeping herb known to most as Brahmi. The power and versatility of this therapeutic plant is such that it supports the brain, promotes liver health, fights systemic redness and swelling and encourages normal blood pressure. Senna, is a large genus of flowering plants in the legume family Fabaceae, and the subfamily Caesalpinioideae. This diverse genus is native throughout the tropics, with a small number of species in temperate regions. It is useful in constipation, loss of appetite, indigestion, liver complaints, abdominal troubles, splenic enlargements, dyspepsia, typhoid, jaundice, anemia, malaria, skin disease, leprosy, poisoning symptoms foul breath, bronchitis and tumors. It is also beneficial for smooth, shiny and strong hair, improves scalp condition and treats dandruff, helps the body get rid of stagnant food accumulated in the stomach, treats anal lacerations and cures hemorrhoids, intestinal worms, mouth infection, gingivitis and aids weight loss.
