Steering And DriveTraction unit and steering combine the features of chain drive and gear reduction. Complete drive unit with engine gearbox is mounted on a turntable which revolves through 360 degrees. Initial speed reduction is achieved through chain and sprocket arrangement and further reduction in speed is achieved through the set of gears running in the oil. These units operate at comparatively low speeds and will give long-term trouble-free service. The position and design of the steering handle permit heavier loads in narrow aisles. Small turning radius provides greater maneuverability. Jumbodiesel trucks are provided with gearbox with three forward and one reverse speeds and with heavy-duty four plate clutch.
