PHYSIOGNOMIES The knife holder rests on a heavy and rigid base to render a shake proof operation. The protective cover is hinged to the base and thumps back to let the interior parts exposed for convenient cleaning, lubrication & setting. The feed mechanism is dependent on the vertical movement of the object block. The feed pawl engages precisely on to the teeth of the ratchet gear at the completion of each revolution of the counter balanced drive wheel. The object holder inclines the plane mechanism with precise increments. Tissues of one micron thickness can also be sectioned. A safety device automatically disengages the mechanism at the end of feed limit to prevent jamming and damage to the feed screws. Feed setting is controlled by a knurled knob at the front of the microtome. The sturdy knife holder provides lateral movements for complete use of knife edge.
