Hastelloy is a super alloy which contains an influential amount of nickel and molybdenum which in turn provides stellar corrosion resistance especially in reducing environments. Hastelloy also contains chromium and iron which are effective and powerful chemicals in the resistance of oxidizing media. Hastelloy is only one of the few materials to withstand the corrosion effects of wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide. Hastelloy can be fabricated with ease and it is an alloy that also has excellent forming and welding characteristics. Hastelloy can also be forged, and because of its feasible ductility it can also be cold worked. Hastelloy plates show good ductility even after prolonged exposure to extremely high temperatures over a feasible amount of hours.
