The Robotic Shelling System - The automated and robotised
shell production solution for an Investment-Casting foundry.
Shelling is done by dipping the wax assemblies in a series of
ceramic slurries and coating them in refractory sands.
It is critical that this process is fully automated using a robotic
shelling system; any inconsistencies in the shell thickness and
porosity, that arises from uneven sanding or draining of the
ceramic slurries, or improper drying process can cause trouble
later in the process. Resulting in defects in the castings and
hence rejections.
Doing all these processes manually simply does not give the
precision or repeatability to perform this task in a satisfactory
manner.
RoSS is a comprehensive shell room solution, which aims to
completely replace human effort to more a efficient and reliable

Description : The Rainfall Type Sander is a sand coating unit with a unique self loading rotary type elevator. The machine is noise and vibration free.
Application:In the shell building process, after dipping the cluster in the slurry, they have to be coated with sand or stuccoed. The machine is designed for the purpose. The machine produces a sand rain in which the slurry dipped wax cluster is manipulated to obtain a uniform coating of the refractory particles on the cluster.
Salient features :
a) The new design RTS is designed to generate a steady and uniform rain within the work area, to maximize covering efficiency with minimum quantity of sand. Perforated steel sheet provided below rain area sieves the unused sand before reloading into rotary type elevator

After metal casting the ceramic shells are to be broken away to reveal the castings. This breaking of the shell is termed as 'Knock out'. The knock-out is done by a pneumatic hammer, provided with a variable position carriage for clamping IC poured trees. The whole is mounted within a heavy steel frame.

Application: The cast components have to be separated from sprue or runner bar. The Abrasive
cut-off machine is used for this purpose. The ACM provides for a quick clean cut of in-gate and
its cost effective to use.

Application: To formulate and thoroughly mix the primary slurry, before adding it to the slurry pot.
The quality & consistency of the primary slurry decides the quality of the castings produced. Hence,
this is essential equipment in shell room of any IC foundry.
