karela raw fruit is reported to be very high in vitamin c and provitamin a and is a source of dietary fibres. human studies on karela have shown it to be effective in reducing fasting sugar. several animal studies have indicated karela to be useful in preventing weight gain, non alcoholic fatty liver disease, and management of poor blood lipid profile. other laboratory studies have indicated karela to be effective in suppressing the growth of various cancer cells such as breast cancer cells, liver cancer cells, pancreatic cancer cells, colon and skin cancer cells, etc.

A juice made from extracted whole fruits of karela and jamun. Karela is shown in human studies to be supportive in in the management of diabetes control. The effects are more pronounced on fasting glucose. Animal studies have expanded possible effectiveness spectrum of karela. They have hinted towards weight gain preventive, blood lipid lowering abilities of karela fruit. Also there is an indication of karela being useful in the management of non alcoholic fatty liver disease- a modern day potentially serious problem occurring due to excessive fat consumption and which can progress to liver cirrhosis.
Jamun is traditionally used in the North-East India for the control of dysentery. Several clinical studies (those done on humans) have shown usefulness of Jamun as an adjuvant in the management of Type II diabetes. For example, supplementation with jamun powder for 3 months in diabetic patients led to around 30% and 22% reductions in fasting  blood glucose and post lunch blood glucose, respectively. Along with these symptoms of diabetes such as fatigue, frequent urination were reduced too. Another human study carried out for 2 months reported blood cholesterol reporting effects of Jamun.

lauki is consumed throughout india as a vegetable. lauki is low in fat and cholesterol, and is rich in vitamin c, vitamin b group vitamins (except vitamin b12), iron, etc. it is recommended in ayurveda for diabetes, high blood pressure, stomach upset, liver ailments, weight loss, etc.
a three month study on human subjects done in india showed lauki juice to have favourable results in diabetes and lipid imbalance management. there was a noticeable reduction in systolic blood pressure.
a study done on lauki fruits in mice have indicated the lauki juice to useful in preventing and managing skin papillomas (benign growths on skin). a study in rats indicate lauki juice to supportive in hyperthyroidism.

cautionkindly taste the juice before consumption. do not consume the lauki juice if the initial taste is found to be even slightly bitter.
