Heat Shrinkable End Caps

This data sheet covers the requirements for heat shrink end caps whose dimension will shrink to a predetermined size up on the application of heat above 125 deg. C. Color of the end caps is black. The end caps are pre-coated on the machine in film form or spiral form, with a hot melt adhesive of translucent, yellowish color.
Typical Applications

End caps are used for protecting the unused cable end from the environmental effects. They also offer insulation on the unused end of electrical cable connected to supply. IKEBANA end caps with film form coating are suitable for pressurized and with spiral form coating for unpressurized telecommunications cables and full range of electrical cables of PVC, XLPE, PILC or rubber type jackets. The application table gives the end cap dimensions and cable diameter range of usage for each model. For pressurized telecom cables, the end caps are fitted with a non return air valve.

Materials
The base material of the end caps is thermally stabilized, cross linked polyolefin. The end cap is coated inside with a polyamide based hot melt adhesive. The raw material is compounded with a package of chemical additives offering protection against oxidation, ozone , UV radiation etc.
Ordering for End Caps Manufactured from Special Materials
End caps can be supplied against specific orders manufactured from semi-conducting or non-tracking high voltage (Red) materials. Non-tracking HV end caps are coated with butyl rubber based mastic, which is water-proof, insulating and non-tracking. Semi-con end caps are coated with semi-conductive mastic or poly-amide based hot melt adhesive or suitable combination of both.

Stress Grading Mastic

This data sheet covers the requirements for stress grading mastic (Yellow mastic) supplied in tape form for void filling in terminations and joints. The Stress grading mastic provides excellent stress control functions.

Low Voltage Breakouts

This data sheet covers the requirements for heat shrink low voltage breakouts whose dimension will shrink to a predetermined size upon the application of heat above 125 deg. C. Color of the LV breakouts is black. The LV breakouts are electrically insulating, UV resistant and weather proof. LV Breakouts are with two, three, four or five fingers and are spiral coated on machine with poly-amide based hot melt adhesive or (against special orders) rubber mastic and covered with release paper).
Typical Applications
The LV breakouts provide insulation and sealing over the crutch of multi-core cables. The hot melt adhesive or the mastic sealant provides a water tight environmental seal to the cable. The LV breakouts are normally used as an integral part of cable terminations up to 1kV.

Non-Tracking HV Single Sheds

This data sheet covers the requirements for heat shrinkable high voltage sheds whose dimension will shrink to a predetermined size upon the application of heat above 125 deg. C. Color of the HV sheds is red. The HV sheds are electrically insulating, anti tracking, erosion resistant, weather proof and flame retardant. The HV sheds are normally supplied with an anti-tracking red sealant coating covered with release paper.
Typical Applications
Heat Shrink Single Sheds are used for extending the creepage path for the medium voltage cable termination, thereby saving the length of the cable and reducing the size of the switch gear cabinet required for this purpose. Single sheds are suitable for termination of the complete range of electrical cables of XLPE and PILC types. The rubber based red sealant seals the single shed to the cable insulation.

Non Tracking Tubes

Ikebana NTT, heat shrink medium wall tubing, is a non-tracking tubing for indoor and outdoor applications for termination of medium voltage XLPE and paper insulated power cables. Ikebana NTT has good resistance to tracking and erosion which provides excellent electrical insulation to the components inside. It offers good protection from environmental effects, ultra-violet radiation and moisture. The tough cross-linked polyolefin material provides good mechanical protection.
Ikebana NTT is easy to install. A common gas torch is required to heat and recover the tubes onto the power cables or accessories. Ikebana NTT has a high shrink ratio which allows it to be used with a wide range of cable sizes.
Ikebana heat shrink medium wall non-tracking tubes have:
