Electric heat tracing, heat tape or surface heating, is a system used to maintain or raise the temperature of pipes, vessels and tank. Trace heating takes the form of an electrical heating element run in physical contact along the length of a pipe. The pipe must then be covered with thermal insulation to retain heat losses from the pipe.
Heat generated by the element then maintains the temperature of the pipe. Trace heating may be used to protect pipes from freezing, to maintain a constant flow temperature in hot water systems, or to maintain process temperatures for piping that must transport substances that solidify at ambient temperatures. Electric trace heating cables are an alternative to steam trace heating where steam is not available or unwanted.
Uses The most common pipe trace heating applications include:
Other uses of trace heating cables include
Electric Drain Heater Cable is the application of a compensating heat source to a pipe, surface or vessel to maintain a specified temperature. Heat Trace Cable (Brand Name Hotway Heat Tracer, which we offer, is used in food processing plants, Chemical industry and Shipment industry. Heat Tracer replaces the losses of heat from a surface, to allow temperature maintenance of the product, which Thermal Insulation alone cannot maintain. Thermal Insulation is recommended on all applications. Without Insulation surface heat losses can increase approx. 4-5 times. Why Our Heat Tracer?:
SRF Self-Regulating Freeze Protection Cable
Hotway Thermal Technology SRF cable is ideal for keeping metal and plastic pipes warm in commercial construction and institutional buildings, some industrial freeze protection applications. SRF cable is constructed of a self-regulating polymer core that varies its output along its entire length, saving energy and eliminating hot spots along the pipe. Parallel construction makes it easier to install than zone or series types of cable since it can be cut-to-length at any point on the pipe.
