Forging Rings

As forged rings manufacturer Goodrich Gasket carries out the production of seamless forged rings by a process called ring rolling on rolling mills. These mills vary in size to produce rings with outside diameters of just a few inches to over 300" and in weights from a single pound up to over 300, 000 pounds. The process starts with a circular preform of metal that has been previously upset and pierced (using the open die forging process) to form a hollow "donut". This donut is heated above the recrystallization temperature and placed over the idler or mandrel roll. These idler roll then moves under pressure toward a drive roll that continuously rotates to reduce the wall thickness, thereby increasing the diameters (I.D. and O.D.) of the resulting ring. A forged, profiled seamless rolled ring offers unsurpassed structural integrity and the forging's directional grain flow increases the overall strength and with the absence of welding part; integrity, corrosion resistance and shape are maintained.

Centrifugal Casting Rings & Parts

The casting process at Goodrich Gasket Pvt Ltd is usually performed on a horizontal centrifugal casting machine(vertical machines are also available) and includes the following steps: Mould preparation- Walls of a cylindrical mould are first coated with a refractory ceramic coating in a steps (application, rotation, drying, and baking). Once prepared and secured, the mould is rotated about its axis at high speeds (300-3000 RPM), typically around 1000 RPM.Pouring - Molten metal is poured directly into the rotating mould, without the use of runners or a gating system. The centrifugal force drives the material towards the mould walls as the mould fills.

Lens Rings

Lens rings have a metallic gasket design featuring spherical sealing faces to fit into flange recesses. All lens rings are made to be softer than flange grooves so that the gasket plastically deforms on compressive load rather than the flanges. Distribution of compressible loads spreads the gasket facings thereby preventing the over stressing of the gaskets. In accordance with DIN 2696 certain specified grades of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel are used for lens rings and alternate grades upon request are also incorporated to the lens ring material. Goodrich gasket requires detailed drawings for non standard lens rings.
