in the majority of glass plant installations, vessels find universal application as stirring vessels, reboilers, receivers and separators as well as for storage, feed or measuring. This section of the catalogue describes a wide range of both glass and non-glass vessels together with the items which are normally used in conjunction with them such as vessel covers and stirrers.
standard glass vessels are available in two basic forms: spherical (available up to 200 litres in capacity) and cylindrical (available up to 200 litres in capacity). Large spherical vessels are not available but cylindrical vessels with higher capacity than 200 litres can be supplied to special orders.
all glass vessels have standard flat buttress end connections. Further details of these are provided in sectiontechnical information.
when spherical vessels are used as stirring vessels or reboilers, the top branch in generally used for the column or stirrer. The side branches on standard vessels are generally dn 25, dn 40 or dn 100; dn 25 and dn 40 being at 10 to the vertical (45 on type vsu) and dn 100 being at 45. The only exception to this are type vsd spherical vessels which have dn 50, dn 80 and dn 150 side branches at 90 to the vertical and are used mainly in boiler circulatory systems. The smaller branches are normally used for such components as thermometer pockets, resistance thermometer and feed pipes. The dn 100 branches are normally used for charging solids or for the connection of vapour pipes when the top branch is used for a stirrer.
in application where temperature control is necessary, heating bath and mantles are available and detailed in this section. In addition, some glass vessels are available with jacket for close temperature control. If spherical or cylindrical vessels are used in conjunction with a heating mantle or bath, a longer bottom outlet isrequired and should be specified when ordering. The vsl spherical vessels are specifically designed for this purpose.
the majority of vessels have dn 40 bottom outlet. For application where it is necessary to avoid the build-up of solids in this outlet, the vessel can be fitted with a bottom outlet valve.(see section valves & filters).this should be specified when ordering. The type rfc valve is an ideal alternative for vessels, which do not have a sealed-in valve seat.
by combining vessels with stirrers and stirrer drives, an extremely wide range of agitated stirring equipment options is possible. This fact is enhanced by the inclusion ofptfe stirrers as well as their glass counterparts, thus allowing further options to be considered in the process design. Vessel/stirrer compatibility tables are detailed in individual stirrer description.
both spherical & cylindrical vessels can be supplied with graduations to special order. Standard graduated cylindrical vessels are shown in this section.
for standard flat buttress end connections from dn25 to dn150, it is possible to achieve a 3deflection in the joint by using a flexible gasket. Details of these and all other couplings and gasket can be found in sectioncouplings.
unless otherwise stated, all dimensions are given in mm. All vessel capacities are given in liters.
for permissible operating conditions, unless otherwise stated in the individual description, please see sectiontechnical information.

glass components are connected with one another by flanged joints. All the glass nozzles have special ends known as buttress ends to fix up a backing flange behind the end and connect the two opposite flanges by bolting with each other.
coring usually gives tapered buttress ends (garg type) which are backed by a metal flange with matching tapered bore and with a soft asbestos insert in between to prevent excessive point stresses on the glass surface. These joints give excellent performance when the glass and metal tapers are perfectly matched with full concentricity and when the alignment is perfect. In case of sight imperfection, there is a chance of excessive stresses and breakage of glass neck. Secondly, because of the taper fit, the glass to flange joint is mechanically locked and it is difficult to change flanges.
we give another type of end which we call collared buttress end. This is similar to stub ends used in copper and stainless steel piping. The collar is backed by an asbestos rope, a metal split ring and a metal backing flange. This type of joint is very strong and has flexibility in case of slight misalignment. The overall dimensions of this type of end are kept same as those of tapered end. Hence it is easy top interchange these types of ends; and even fixing tapered end with collared end is possible.
the following table gives dimensions of both the types of buttress ends

Normally any process industry requires measurement, monitoring and control of various process parameters such as temperatures, pressure, flow etc.
DIGITAL TEMPERATURE INDICATORS
These are resistance temperature detectors with PT100 sensor. The display is digital LED display with 31/2 digit output and resolution of 0.1 o C. There are available with total range 0-999.9 o C. Flame proof and none two point controllers are also available. One point and two point controllers are also available for annunciation or for on/off controls.
The glass components are supported on tubular structures. They are made of G.I. or powder coated still pipes. Typical fitting are used to make a strong and rigid structure to support the glass assemblies. These fitting are made of cast iron and held in position by tightening all screws.
The general dimensions of the structures and fittings are as follows : -
Manufacture of glass pumps is comparatively recent development. The pumps involve moving parts. Hence, more precision is required in the manufacture to minimize operational and maintenance problems. Out of development activities and experience of several years, we have developed the following types of pumps.
valves and filters form an essential part of any process plant or system in a wide range of applications from relatively simple on/off functions to flow control, pressure relief and filtering.
all wetted parts of valves and fitters described in this section of the catalogue are constructed from borosilicate glass, ptfe, ceramic, fep, pfa or tantalum thus ensuring maximum resistance to corrosion. In addition, as valves have a glass body, visual monitoring of the valve operation is possible at all times.
for standard flat buttress end connections from dn 25 to dn 150, it is possible to achieve a 3deflection in the joint by using a flexible gasket. Details of these and all other couplings and gasket can be found in section -couplings.
the valves described in this section of the catalogue comply, which means that 90bends, tee pieces and equal crosses(see section pipeline components)are interchangeable with certain type such as angle valve.
dn refers to the nominal bore. Unless otherwise stated, all dimensions are given in mm.
for permissible operating conditions, unless otherwise stated in the individual description, please see section technical information.generally, the maximum operating temperature for valves is 200c but temperature above ambient, particularly in the range from 120c to 200c, impose restrictions on the permissible operating pressure.
a wide variety of valves are available for a range of purposes. All have borosilicate glass bodies. As a result operation of the valve can be checked visually. In practically every case glass is combined with ptfe, which ensures that the valves have maximum resistance to corrosion.
all the valves are suitable for use under full vacuum. Pressure ratings at ambient temperature are indicated in the tables applicable to each type of valve.
the maximum operating temperature is 200 c but temperatures above ambient particularly in the range 120 c to 200 c, impose restrictions on the permissible operating pressure. In case of doubt it is advisable to consult us.
these valves comply with iso 3587 where applicable. Thus maximum interchangeability of compatible components is assured. For example, angle valves can be interchanged with 90 ells, equal tee pieces and equal crosses.
dn refers to nominal bore. Unless otherwise stated dimensions are in millimeters. Figures given for maximum recommended working pressure represent pressure above atmospheric.
Valves and filters form an essential part of any process plant or system in a wide range of applications from relatively simple on/off functions to flow control, pressure relief and filtering.
