We offer a complete product range of Catgut Suture, Silk Braided Suture, PGA Suture, Nylon Suture and Polypropylene Sutures

Catgut Suture

  • Sizes 5-0 to 2

Catgut or gut suture is an absorbable suture usually manufactured from the intestine of sheep or goat. Catgut suture are composed of highly purified connective tissue derived from either or sheep intestines. The membrane is chemically treated and slender strands are woven together to form a suture. The grinding process creates a strand of uniform diameter. The suture strand is then further polished to achieve maximum smoothness, for reliability and strength. Catgut suture are available in the form of plain catgut or chromic catgut. The percentage of collagen in the catgut suture often determines the quality of the suture. Higher percentages of collagen allow for: superior tensile strength, longer absorption times, and lower reactions in vivo. Plain catgut is available in ivory colour.

Silk Braided Suture

  • Feature Silk Sutures are composed of natural material silk which is obtained from silk worm, Silk Suture is a coated and braided non absorbable suture etc.
Sutura is the brand name of silk sutures manufactured by Dolphin Sutures. Silk sutures are entwined thread from silk worm larva. Silk sutures are coated and braided non-absorbable sutures. Silk sutures are specially treated with silicone to give strength and smoothen the surface which provides easy passage through tissues. Silk sutures are widely used as ligature and are also used for other applications like skin, ophthalmic, GI tract, etc. and are not indicated for use in biliary and urinary tract surgery. Silk sutures have moderate tissue reaction. Silk sutures are available in black colour.

PGA Suture

  • Feature Polyglycolic acid suture is a synthetic, braided and coated absorbable suture, Polyglycolic acid sutures are available from U.S.P. size 2 to size 6-0 etc.
Petcryl is the brand name of PGA sutures manufactured by Dolphin Sutures. Petcryl is made from 100% Glycolide popularly known as PGA Sutures or polyglycolic acid sutures. Dolphin Sutures is the first Indian brand to launch Polyglycolic Acid Sutures in India in the year 1997. PGA suture is an ideal and time tested synthetic absorbable suture, widely used by surgeons all over the world. PGA sutures' superior features over catgut are predictable absorption, outstanding tensile strength, in-vivo inertness and excellent handling properties.

Nylon Suture

  • Feature Nylon suture is a monofilament non-absorbable surgical suture, Nylon sutures are composed of polymers made from 100% homo polymer of polyamide grade 6.6 etc.
Nylon sutures are non-absorbable sutures and possess excellent tensile strength. Nylon sutures are available in black colour. Nylon sutures have excellent knot security properties and can be easily removed with no tissue adherence. These sutures are infection resistant. Nylon sutures are widely used for general closure, skin and plastic surgery. They are usually not recommended for attachment of artificial prostheses in cardiovascular surgery. They also do not support infection and maintain tensile strength indefinitely in tissues.

Polypropylene Sutures

  • Feature Polypropylene suture is a monofilament and synthetic non-absorbable suture, Polypropylene sutures are composed of polymers made from 100% homo polymer of polypropylene etc.
Polypropylene sutures are monofilament sutures of an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. Polypropylene sutures are non-absorbable and provide permanent wound support. Polypropylene sutures are blue colored for easy identification during surgery. Polypropylene sutures have excellent tensile strength and are used for orthopaedic, plastic and micro surgeries, general closure and cardiovascular surgeries. Polypropylene sutures are popularly known as Prolene sutures. Polypropylene sutures elicit minimal tissue reaction and do not cause tissue rupture or support infection.
