FMPL is an integrated plant from ore processing to making a concentrate and then manufacturing Low Carbon Ferro Chrome. Ferrochrome is an alloy of iron and chromium generally containing 58% to 80 % chromium by weight. The major use of Ferro-chrome is in manufacturing of Stainless steel, low carbon ferrochrome is added to steel where chromium percentage needs to be adjusted without affecting the carbon levels. Chromium provides high corrosion resistance to the steel even at high temperatures. Chromium also increases the hardness and toughness of steel. The average chromium content in stainless steel is 18%.

Ferro tungsten is an alloy of iron and tungsten with tungsten content of more than 70%. It is a robust alloy because of its high melting point, tungsten has the second highest melting point after carbon. By combining iron with tungsten, the tendencies towards brittleness are overcome as compared to raw tungsten. When added to steel it increased the steel melting point also imparting good conducting properties owing to its unique electrical capabilities.

Chromium is a lustrous, brittle, hard metal. It is silvery-gray and can be highly polished. It does not tarnish in air, when heated it forms the green chromic oxide. Chromium forms a thin layer of oxide film on the surface that is impermeable to oxygen and protects the metal below.
