Body: Fabricated design. The valve frame is constructed from heavy duty Steel Channels with a Guides for tighter shut off. Square or rectangular port design for higher flow capacity and minimal pressure drop. Internal design avoids any buildup of solids that would prevent valve from closing
Pressure Rating: hardened Blanchard ground blade which rides on cam rollers or solid guides. Gate is polished on both sides to avoid jamming and seat damage.
Packing: Long-life packing with several layers of braided fiber packing and gland ensuring a tight seal. Long-life braided packing is available in a wide range of materials.
Yoke or Super Structure: Made of EPOXY coated steel (stainless steel available on request). Compact design makes it extremely robust even under the most severe conditions.
Actuators: Actuation of Slide Gate Valves can be accomplished in many ways like Pneumatically for fast action, Hydraulically for power, Electrically for precise positioning, and Manually for maintenance and flow control.

Features
Body
Precision cast bodies in virtually any alloy allow customers to utilize proper materials for virtually any application. Castings conform to all applicable ASME codes. Certified independent testing can be performed when requested or required such as RT and PT. Bodies are available in Wafer, Lug, Double Flanges .
Disc
FMC is designed to have minimal deflection and movement under pressure which reduces torque and improves cycle life. The discs tapered edge and offset shaft journal generates a “cram” motion allowing for a release from the seat within the first few degrees of opening.
Shaft
Our hardened 17-4 one piece design provides shaft strength and integrity under the most severe conditions. Other shaft materials are available depending upon application.
Seat
OUR seat is machined to lock between the body and retention ring but is allowed to move under pressure. This allows us to utilize solid seats giving maximum disc edge coverage, high cycle life and very low torque without the requirement for rubber O-ring energizers or metal back up support.
Gland
Our recessed gland packing eliminates the requirement for mounting kit and reduces overall package height. Our cup and cone design gland flange and packing compression guide allows an even compression of packing even if field adjustments are made incorrectly.
Extended Neck
Bonnet to flange clearance is a minimum of 2” allowing for piping insulation on all sizes of valves.
Seat Retention Ring
Our highly engineered retainer plate assures customer of proper seat stability and allows for full rated bi-directional, dead end service. The HP series seat retention ring conforms to the latest revisions of API 609 accommodating spiral wound gasket sealing elements to fall outside the bolting area.
Bonnet
Allows for direct mounting of all types of actuation. Standard drilling conforms to Kv industrial standards. ISO drilling is also available upon request.
Packing
Multi layered “cup and cone” PTFE packing allows for even compression against shaft and shaft journal area providing a positive seal even under high cycles. Multi layered graphite packing is available for metal seated and fire safe valves.
Blowout Proof Shaft Retention
Engineered to be one of the safest valves in the market our shaft retention system meets API requirements. Shaft retention system allows the gland flange and follower to slide up and down a machined recessed portion of the shaft. If a shaft were to shear our system prevents hydraulic force from projecting the shaft keeping it safely retained above the packing.
Bearing
Features
Body: Body is cast to provide liberal strength to meet operating conditions and to permit unobstructed flow. Turbulence, erosion and pressure drop are minimized. Flanged End-FMC cast steel gate valves are available in flanged end and butt weld ends. All flanged and butt welding end valves are designed to conform to ASME B16.5 and ASME B16.34 standards.
Integral Yoke & Bonnet: Some designs incorporate a two-piece bonnet and yoke. All bonnet assemblies are cast and finished to the same exacting tolerances as the bodies for accurate alignment of stems and ease of sealing. Bonnet joint varies from flat face gasket-joint to ring-type bonnet joint, depending on class.
Seat Rings: Seat rings are seal welded to eliminate leak path behind rings and for long trouble-free service. The surfaces are precision ground to fit accurately with the disc.
Disc: One piece flexible disc provides accurate alignment of mating seating surfaces so the valve can absorb piping strains without leakage. Also, it avoids any tendency to stick in the seated position.
Stem: The tee-head disc-stem connection prevents lateral strain on the stem for smooth, easy operation. Accurately cut threads engage the yoke sleeve for positive control of disc position.
Packing : Packing contains corrosion inhibitor to avoid stem pitting. Stuffing box is deep, assuring long packing life.
Gland : Gland is a two-piece ball-type which exerts even pressure on the packing without binding the stem.
Handwheel: FMC gate valves can also be supplied with gear or motor operators.Hydraulic Grease Fitting: Hydraulic grease fitting provides for lubrication of yoke sleeve bearing surfaces (not shown). FMC gate valves offer the ultimate in dependable service for steam, air, gas, oil, oil vapor, and high pressure installations. All have straight-through ports to assure minimum turbulence, erosion, and resistance to flow. They are available in a wide variety of trims. Gland Eye Bolts : Eye bolts are securely fastened to the bonnet yet swing away to permit easy access to the stuffing box.
Bonnet Gasket : Bonnet gasket provides a positive seal against leakage. Class 150 and 300 valves have a male/female bonnet joint. A ring-type gasket is employed in Class 600.
Valve Design Details
Swing check valves are used to prevent reversal of flow in horizontal pipe lines.FMC does not recommend the use of swing check valves in vertical pipelines, however when using this style of valve in a vertical application the valve must be installed for upward flow only.
Recommended piping practice dictates that check valves be installed with a minimum of 10-15 pipe diameters distance between the check valve and any adjacent flange fitting or pump, otherwise flow fluctuation can result in damage to the valve or piping.
