Tuned harmonic filter (Contactor / Thyristor logic) are passive tuned harmonic filers comprising of type tested heavy duty capacitors & patented heavy duty tapped tuned reactors. Harmonic filters consist of capacitors connected in series with Reactor. The capacitors produces reactive power at the filter"s fundamental frequency & reduce the THDV, (I) of the system. A typical Harmonic filter consists of three series resonant circuits tuned to the most common harmonics 5th, 7th, 11th& 13thorder harmonics ). Harmonic filters are custom designed for each application using standard components. This ensures that the best possible power factor correction and filtering characteristics are achieved with a reasonable investment. This will helps in reducing the THD in the system as per Relevant Standards like IEEE-519 / 1992 & guidelines of CEA & other utilities.

Features :

  • Best possible power factor correction and filtering
  • Helps in reducing the total harmonic distortion in the system
  • No risk of congestion cables and nuisance tripping of fuses or relays
  • Disturbances in telecommunications and data transmission are minimized
  • Electronics, motors control systems, converters and generators function devoid of interruption

Passive Tuned Harmonic Filters

Passive Tuned Harmonic filters consist of capacitors connected in series with Reactors. The system provides reactive power at the fundamental frequency & Harmonic Filtration at tuned frequencies. A typical Harmonic filter consists of series resonant circuits tuned to the prevalent harmonics (5th, 7th, 11th& 13thorder harmonics). Harmonic filters are custom designed for each application. This Ensures that the best possible power factor correction and filtering characteristics are achieved with a reasonable investment. This helps in reducing the THD in the system as per Relevant Passive Tuned Filter Standards like IEEE-519 / 1992 & guidelines of CEA & other utilities.

Hybrid Broadband Passive Filter

  • \r\n Rated Voltage\r\n \r\n 415 V +/-10%\r\n
  • \r\n Rating\r\n \r\n As per VFD rating (KW)\r\n
  • \r\n Rated Frequency\r\n \r\n 50-60 Hz +/-2%\r\n
  • \r\n THDi\r\n \r\n As per IEEE 519 - 2014\r\n
  • THDv As per IEEE 519 - 2014
  • Efficiency >98%
  • High Potential Test Voltage 10 KV
  • Degree of Protection IP42
  • Cooling Forced Air
  • Ambient Temp. 10-50 Deg. C.
  • Expected life 200, 000 Hrs.
  • Standard IEEE 519-2014

The HBPF is connected in series with a single VFD or a group of VFDs to bring down Harmonics ATHD to about 5% level from initial level of about 50%- 60%. As it is connected directly near to load it provides maximum benefits of Harmonic Mitigation and improves efficiency and life of VFD installation. VFD is the most commonly prevalent nonlinear load. Applying Harmonic Mitigation solution at VFD level will clean the entire power system and reduce harmonic loading on Cables, Transformers etc.Besides 3 to 4% Active Power savings life of installation will increase. The transformers will run at lower operating temperatures and the transformer oil filtration frequency will come down.

Salient Features :

  • Hybrid Design- It is combination of series and shunt broadband filters.
  • Targets all harmonics up to 19th order.
  • Hybrid Broadband Passive Filter limits Current Distortion to less than 6.5% (at Full Load)along with power factor correction up to 0.99 plus.
  • Blocks Line Surges.
  • Payback within 2 Yeats.
  • Prevents voltage sags and swells.
  • Provides Reactive Power Compensation.
  • Low self-consumption - about 1% of running load.
  • Improves Energy Efficiency about 2-4 % (Active Power Saving)
  • Meets IEEE-519-2014 Standards.
