MEKP is usually used as catalyst for polyester resin systems. Being a peroxide, this is highly reactive chemical and explosive in nature. Given its danger rating, it must be handled carefully and with proper equipment. Many a times, we hear about explosion or fire incidents in FRP factories. Mystery remains to be solved, but, improper handling of catalyst is the reason.
Catalyst plays a very important role in the overall quality of our parts. Slight change in ratio will either leave parts uncured or reaching the exhotherm (cure) too fast. All these are small things that are usually ignored. But, precise measurement of catalyst is out most important. Age old practices of adding catalyst by approximation or estimation must be stopped immediately.
Cost of our dispensers is negligable in contrast to cost of quality and accidents.
Function of Surface Mat
In a FRP laminate, surface mat is present under the top coat (gel coat) which creates a weather resistant layer. Properly impregnated and cured surface mat will protect the inner glass-resin matrix. This will surely enhance life of your composite parts. At the same time, surface mat also reinforces the gel coat layer.
While applying a layer of surface mat, always be generous in using resin. Ideally, glass-to-resin ratio for laminating surface mat should be at least 1:6 to a good 1:10. For instance, to lay a 30 gr/m2surface mat, use 250 to 300 grams of resin per meter square.
Application with Surface Mat
Most important aspect is to create a barrier. In some aggressive environments where composite parts are constantly exposed / submerged into acidic waters or chemicals, a layer of surface mat is applied on both sides of such parts. One classical example is cooling tower panels.
Variations of Surface Mat
We offer different product to suitdifferent applications like filament winding, hand lay-up, pultrusion, rtm / lrtm, etc. Also, we provide individual solutions in terms of slit width reels / tapes and roll lengths.

Features:
The impressor is a portable, handheld, indentation hardness tester for soft metals (Al, Cu) & alloys, fibre reinforcedplastics (FRP) and other rigid plastics.
Simplicity of the instrument makes it popular and can be operated with no prior experience. It can be used in any position and in any space that will allow clear reach for operators hand. Hardness reading is instantly indicated on the dial, which is divided into one hundred graduations. No waiting, pre-loading or separate measurements. Simply exert pressure against the instrument to drive the spring-loaded indenter point into the material. Indenter point must be perpendicular to the surface being tested. On very soft materials, the highest reading should be used since cold flow permits the spring loaded indenter point to continue penetration.
The Impressor weighs only 550 grams. Weight of the entire Impressor package is approx 1.8 kg and comes complete with carrying case, calibration wrench, leg and two spare indenter points. Two test pieces with calibration certificate are also supplied with the package.

Function of Carbon Veils
For flue gas desulfurization plant designers, two biggest threats are corrosion and static electricity build-up.
Carbon Veils are affectively used for creatingcorrosion barriersin composite tanks, pipes, ducts, fittings, pump and valve housings. Nonwoven veils help build very good obstructions and prevent generation ofmicro-cracksat surface of composite structures. For chemically aggressive and corrosive environments, veils made with carbon fibres provide maximum stability.
Carbon Veils add property ofelectrical conductivityto composite structure. This excess electrical charge will find a conductor and follow the path to ground in order to neutralize the charge build-up, resulting in a spark or arc.Static charge dissipationis particularly important in composite tanks and pipes that handle explosive liquids and gasses. A static build-up can lead to catastrophic events.
Variations of Carbon VeilsCompatibility of veil with a variety of resins, such as epoxy, vinyl ester and polyester is aptly addressed.
Areal weight and roll width are important factors to ensure cost control and to achieve correct properties. Starting from 15 gr/m2to 60 gr/m2can be produced and packed in small tapes starting from 45 mm width to a full roll of 1000 mm.

Polyester nonwoven that contains microspheres. Generally used as a thin core (to create bulk) or print blocker (liner) in fibre reinforced laminates, manufactured with Hand Lay-Up or Spray-Up processes. Sphere core mats should always be fully impregnated with resin. The microspheres in core mats prevent excessive resin up-take. Few important advantages are:
Weight Reduction: Used as a core material in the centre of a laminate. It can replace much heavier solid glass layers. Impregnated sphere core has a density of 620 kg/m3, while impregnated CSM (chopped strand mat) has a density of 1, 500 kg/m3. This is a weight saving of 60%.
Resin and Glass Saving:1 mm of sphere core contains 0.6 kg/m2resin. While, 1 mm of CSM contains 1 kg/m2resin. Although, sphere core usually replaces glass layers, it should always be used between two layers of glass as core material. A classical example, weight of 3 mm laminate made with 3 layers of CSM 450 gsm is 4.3 kg/m2. Whereas, a 3 mm laminate made with 2 layers of CSM 300 gsm + 1 layer of 2 mm core mat is only 2.8 kg/m2.
Cuts Cost of Production:One layer of sphere core builds up thickness rapidly. Available from 1 mm to 10 mm thickness. While multiple layers of glass fiber are required to achieve these greater thicknesses, single layer of appropriate thickness core mat is sufficient.
Excellent Print Blocker:Gives outmost surface finish as it can be used to block print-through of glass reinforcements. Sphere core is most often applied against the skin coat to create a superior surface finish on hull sides in boat industry.

Wooly Rollersare a must use for applying resin over glass fibre reinforcements. Braided faux wool is designed for resin and other viscous liquids. Rollers are designed ergonomically to last long as cured resin does not affect roller handle. High quality construction ensures appropriate working life.
LambswoolRoller ismade of wool piles that can hold and transfer ample resin on the laminate. This roller can reduce multiple application of resin over fibreglass. An improvement on lambs wool, as the material is of uniform thickness and density. It is not affected by commonly used cleaning materials. Replaceable refills are available.
SyntheticRollers are cost effective substitute for natural wool roller. Its large size helps spread resin quickly and evenly. Replaceable refills are available.
Paddle Rollerhave horizontal paddle like groves that helps spread resin evenly. Constant movement releases trapped air. Straight design makes them very easy to clean. Avoid fast movement, it may splash resin.
Finned Rolleris machined out of one-piece aluminum rod. Groves are in radial direction. Fine and deep teeth like groves help liberate air quickly. This evenly designed roller is suitable for nearly all application.
Slotted Rollerisa X generation roller; combining advantages of both finned and paddle rollers. These are very affective for high viscosity filled resins.
Steel Screw Rolleris manufactured on popular demand. Screw like fins and steel make it an all-weather tool. Lasts long and survives even the most rigorous resin systems.
PP-Teflon Finned Rollershave excellent non-stick properties, which make them very easy to clean. They are corrosion resistance, have high lubricity and low friction. These properties make the tool ideal when finish of part is most important. Their smooth functioning and robust performance makes them highly durable.
Bristle Rolleris very effective for irregular surfaces. Removes air much faster than a brush. Bristle rollers work well for knitted/unidirectional/multi-axial fabrics. The roller consists of a spirally wound metal core onto which bristles are embedded. Bristles penetrate into the laminate to remove and buster air bubbles whilst producing a very effective consolidating action.
Corner Rolleris for edges and filets where flat rollers are ineffective.
Bubble Bustersare excellent in releasing entrapped air and are effective on most type of reinforcements.
Flexible Spring Rolleris made on a flexible spring type steel core. Good for irregular and curved surfaces.
Jumbo Rollerare good for laminating very large parts. Covers vast surface area quickly, effective with filled resin systems. Both Paddle & Finned type available.
