The 50 kN capacity Automatic Marshall Stability Test Machine is used to determine the maximum load and flow values of bituminous mixtures. The machine comprises of a robust and compact two column frame with adjustable upper cross beam. The unit is a bench mounting compression frame with motor and worm gear housed within the base unit. The speed of the lower platen can be adjusted between 6 mmmin to 60 mmmin using the data acquisition and control unit. For safety, the up and down travel of the lower platen is limited the use of limit switches. Rapid adjustment of the platen is controlled using the up and down buttons on the front panel of the machine. The machine can be hand operated by a lateral hand wheel for calibration purposes. The measuring system consists of a 50 kn capacity strain gauge load cell fitted to the upper cross beam to read stability values and the 25 x 0.001 mm linear potentiometric displacement transducer fitted to the breaking head. The Automatic Marshall Stability Machine is suitable for testing 6" dia. 4" dia. specimens conforming to ASTM D5581. Compression Testing Machine

Principal of operation: operation of the machines is by hydraulic transmission of load from the test specimen to separately housed load indicator. The hydraulic system is ideal since it replaces transmission of load through levers and knife edges, which are prone to wear and damage due to shock on rupture of test pieces. Load is applied by a hydro-statically lubricated ram. Main cylinder pressure is transmitted to the cylinder of the pendulum dynamo-meter system housed in the control panel. The cylinder of the dynamo-meter is also of self-lubricating design. The piston of the dynamo-meter is constantly rotated to eliminate friction. The load transmitted to the cylinder of the dynamo-meter is transferred through a lever system to a pendulum. Displacement of the pendulum actuates the rack and pinion mechanism which operates the load indicator pointer and the autographic recorder. application : fie compression testing machine is designed for test materials under compression bending, transverse and shear loads. Hardness test on metals can also be conducted.

  • Control Panel : The control Panel consists of a power pack complete with drive motor and an oil tank, control valves a pendulum dynamometer a load indicator system and an autographic recorder.
  • Power Pack : The power pack generates the maximum pressure of 200 kgf/cm2 the hydraulic pump provides continuously non-pulsating oil flow. Hence the load application is very smooth.
  • Hydraulic Controls : Hand operated wheels are used to control the flow to and from the hydraulic cylinder. The regulation of oil flow is infinitely variable incorporated in the hydraulic system is a regulating valve which maintains a practically constant rate of table movement.
  • Load Indicator System : This system consists of a large dial and a pointer. A dummy pointer is provided to register the maximum load reached during the test. Different measuring ranges can be selected by operating the range selection knob. An overload trip switch is incorporated which automatically cuts out the pump motor when the load range in use is exceeded.
  • Pendulum Dynamometer : This unit permits selection of favorable hydraulic ratios producing relatively small frictional forces. Pressurised oil in the loading cylinder pushes up the measuring piston proportionately and actuates the special dynamometer system. The piston is constantly rotated to eliminate friction. The dynamometer system is also provided with an integral damper and ensures high reliability of operation. The load transmitted to the dynamometer is transferred through a pendulum to the load indicator.
  • Autographic Continuous Roll Load-Elongation Recorder : This unit is of the pen and drum type and is supplied as standard. The horizontal motion of the pen produces the load ordinate of the diagram and the drum rotation produces the extension ordinates in the ration of either 1:5 or 1:10. A continuous roll of graph paper is stored inside the drum and is easily replaced.
  • Accuracy & Calibration : All FIE Compression Testing Machines are closely controlled for sensitivity, accuracy and calibration during every stage of manufacture. Every machine is then calibrated over each of its measuring ranges in accordance with the procedure laid down in BS : 1610 : Part 1 :1992 and IS 1828. An accuracy of + 1.0% is guaranteed from 20% from 20% of the load range selected to full load. Below 20% of the selected range, the maximum permissible error is 0.2% of the full load reading.

Ductility Testing Machine

With refrigeration system and micro-processor based digital temperature controller. Ductility is defined as distance in cms to which a standard briquette of bitumen can be stretched before the thread breaks. The briquette is stretched at a rate of 50 mmmin. 2.5mm per minute at a temperature of 27C 0.5C. The Machine is having built in refrigeration system to work a below ambient temperature up to 10C in tropical conditions. The Machine will operate at 27C with control accuracy of 0.5C as per the requirement of IS. This machine is used to test the fatigue strength of materials and to draw S-N diagram by research institute, laboratories, material manufacturers and various industries. This is rotating beam type machine in which load is applied in reversed bending fashion. The standard 8 mm dia specimen is held in special holders at its ends and located such that it experiences a uniform bending moment. The specimen is rotated at 4200 rpm by a motor. A complete cycle of reversed stresses in all fibres of the specimen is produced during each revolution. The bending moment is applied with the lever system and can be easily changed by moving a weight over the lever. Total number of revolution at which the specimen fails are recorded by a mechanical counter. An interlocking system puts off the momaiter at specimen failure. Spring Testing Machine

Spring testing machine enable load deflection tests of tension and compression springs to be carried out accurately and quickly. The Cabinet contains the hydraulic unit the hand wheel of the pump and the release valve handle are outside the cabinet for easy operation. Universal Testing Machine

Ductility Testing Machine - Refrigerated

With refrigeration system and micro-processor based digital temperature controller. Ductility is defined as distance in cms to which a standard briquette of bitumen can be stretched before the thread breaks. The briquette is stretched at a rate of 50 mm/min. 2.5mm per minute at a temperature of 27C 0.5C. The Machine is having built in refrigeration system to work a below ambient temperature up to 10C in tropical conditions. The Machine will operate at 27C with control accuracy of 0.5C as per the requirement of IS. The apparatus consists of water bath with a heater, and a circulating pump to maintain uniform water temperature. One half of the briquette moulds is fixed in a fixed plate in the water bath, the other half of the briquette mould is fixed to a carrier which slides over a rotating threaded shaft with a clutch, The motor and gears to rotate the shaft are housed in a cabinet fixed above the other end of the bath. A pointer fixed to the carrier moves over. a scale graduated from 0-100 cm x 1mm fixed on the bath with "0" (Zero) of the scale towards the fixed plates side. The rotating shaft has 2 speeds of travel for the bracket, 5 cm/min.and 1cm/min. selected by a clutch. Water bath inside is of stainless steel with insulation and water drain cock . A heater with is fitted inside the water bath. The Temp. is controlled by dual display Microprocessor based Auto Tuning PID Digital Temp. indicator cum controller. Control switches for motor, stirrer, heater and indicator lamps are fixed at a convenient place on the water bath. Complete with three briqutte moulds and one base plate, All supply single phase. Flexure Testing Machine

It is used for testing 40mm x 40mm x 160mm mortar specimens for flexural strength. (rilem cembureau test) by single point loading.
  • Specifications : It is a motorized, mechanical unit. The speed is adjusted so that the load increase on the specimen is between 4 to 6 kg/sec. A flexure test attachment for keeping the specimen in position is also supplied. This consists of two rollers 10mm. diameter and spaced 100mm apart, and a third roller of the same diameter equidistant from the first two and for transmitting the applied load to the opposite face of the prism. Flexure Testing Machine Hand Operated

Flexural tests of concrete beam have their own importance in concrete road constructions as well as buildings constructions. Normally concrete beams of sizes 10cm x 10cm x 50cm or 15cm x 15cm x 70cm are tested for flexural strength.

  • Specifications : The machine consists of a hand operated load frame. The lower platen has two rollers, the distance between which is adjustable. For 150mm x 150mm x 700mm beam, the centre to centre distance between the rollers is 600mm, while it is 400mm for beams of size 100mm x 100mm x 500mm The upper platen has also a pair of rollers whose distance is adjustable. It is 200mm centre to centre, for 150mm X 150mm X 700mm size beam and 133mm for 100mm 100mm X 100mm X 500mm size beam. A pressure gauge to indicate load is fixed on the load frame. A small pumping unit is attached to the load frame. Total capacity of the machine is 100 KN and a 150mm dia pressure gauge - 100 KN x 1 KN is fitted on the machine. Since this is a hand operated light weight machine, it is useful for field laboratory also.

Flexure Testing Machine (Electrically Operated)

Same as above but instead of a hand pumping unit, a separate electrically cum hand operated pumping unit housed in a cabinet is supplied. The pressure gauge 0-100 kn x 1 kn, on/off switch and a slow/fast level to control rate of loading are fitted on the front panel of the pumping unit. A facility for hand operation is provided. Tile Abrasion Testing Machine

This is used for determination of resistance to wear for cement concrete flooring tiles. Tiles specimen of size 7. 06 cm x 7. 06 cm is pressed tace-wise under specific load on a grinding path and abrasive powder is evenly spread on the rotating grinding path and after specific number of revolution of the grinding disc the second parallel side of the tile is subjected to wear for similar number of rotations. The wear of the tile is measured on a thickness gauge specifically made for the purpose. the machine consists of a disc rotating at a speed of 30 rpm in a circular tray. A bracket is provided to hold the specimen. A counter balance lever loads the specimen. Load applied is 30 kgf. A funnel is fitted to evenly spread abrasive powder on the grinding path. A pre-set counter automatically stops the machine after 22 revolutions. This counter is re-adjustable.the machine works on 440 volts A. C. , three phase electrical supply.

Tile Flexure Testing Machine

Unit for finding flexural strength of clay roofing tiles and cement concrete flooring tiles. Flexural load is applies on the tiles using lead shots. The machine consists of a stand on which two 40mm dia bearing rollers or 12mm dia rollers are placed at centre distance of 150mm, 200mm, 250mm, or 270mm as the case may be. The third upper roller applies centrally flexural load by means of lever arrangement. Lead shot contained in an upper vessel start flowing into lower container at a rate of 45 to 55 kg. Per minute or 200 kg. Per minute there by, starting loading the specimen. Arrangement is made such that loading automatically stops when specimen breaks. Supplied without lead shots. Accessories : lead shots supplied in packs of 20 kgs.
