AMM-160 is a Portable Moisture & Temperature in oil meter or a sensor that provides an excellent reliable, economical and Time saving solution for measurement of moisture in Oil in the field.
It measures Moisture-in-oil in terms of the Water Activity (aw) and Temperature. The same gets converted into PPM units as in Transformer applications, PPM-unit is traditionally used.
The MOISTURE SENSOR is of solid Polymer structure and is, Fast, Accurate and Reliable Water in Oil and Temperature Transducers designed for Industrial, Transformers and Locomotive applications where a reliable and accurate measurement of water in oil content is highly required. Its fast response time combined with Reliable and Rugged structure make it even suitable for fixed in situ mounting in fluids under Pressure
Dissolved water in oil is a critical data for Oil System Management as water consumes oil additives that can result in severe mechanical damages due to degradation of Lubricant Properties.
In a comprehensive Transformer Maintenance Program, determination of the Moisture content and Temperature of the oils is an essential part. Excessive moisture contents causes accelerated ageing of the Insulation Materials and reduce their Dielectric strength. In extreme cases this can result in Arcing and Short Circuits within the windings. Accurate moisture analysis can also warn about Leaks in the Oil System as water is absorbed from the surrounding air.
