With indiscriminate mining destroying the riparian ecology of many areas, the scientific community has been busy trying to find alternatives to river sand for construction. Some of the options being considered include crushing rock, extracting sand from private lands, and mining for sand in submerged areas, and getting sand from molten iron slag. Slag sand is durable, has consistent shape and volume, and is safe for use in construction. Brazil and Japan already have a well-established market for slag sand, and Indian Construction comapnies have already initiated the use of Slag Sand. And they have achieved amazing results using it.
