Sensors

Our product range contains a wide range of Hall Effect Sensor, Heart Beat Sensor, force sensor, Flex Sensor and Color Sensor

Hall Effect Sensor

Hall Effect Sensors are sometimes referred to as switches rather than sensors because of the on-off digital voltage signal they produce. Unlike magnetic sensors that produce an alternating current (AC) signal which varies in voltage with speed, Hall Effec tSensors produce a constant voltage signal that can change abruptly from maximum voltage to nearly zero and back again regardless of engine speed. This produces a square wave output signal that can be easily used by the onboard computer for timing purposes.

Heart Beat Sensor

The new version uses the TCRT1000 reflective optical sensor for photoplethysmography. The use of TCRT100 simplifies the build process of the sensor part of the project as both the infrared light emitter diode and the detector are arranged side by side in a leaded package, thus blocking the surrounding ambient light, which could otherwise affect the sensor performance. We have also designed a printed circuit board for it, which carries both sensor and signal conditioning unit. And its output is a digital pulse which is synchronous with the heartbeat. The output pulse can be fed to either an ADC channel or a digital input pin of a microcontroller for further processing and retrieving the heart rate in beats per minute (BPM).

Force Sensor

This is a force sensitive resistor with a round, 0.5 diameter, sensing area. This FSR will vary its resistance depending on how much pressure is being applied to the sensing area. The harder the force, the lower the resistance. When no pressure is being applied to the FSR its resistance will be larger than 1M?. This FSR can sense applied force anywhere in the range of 100g-10kg. Two pins extend from the bottom of the sensor with 0.1 pitch making it bread board friendly. There is a peel-and-stick rubber backing on the other side of the sensing area to mount the FSR. These sensors are simple to set up and great for sensing pressure, but they arent incredibly accurate. Use them to sense if its being squeezed, but you may not want to use it as a scale.

Flex Sensor

A simple flex sensor 2.2 in length. As the sensor is flexed, the resistance across the sensor increases. Patented technology by Spectra Symbol they claim these sensors were used in the original Nintendo Power Glove.

Color Sensor

TCS230 Color Sensor Daughterboard is a complete color detector, including a TAOS TCS230 RGB sensor chip, white LEDs, collimator lens, and standoffs to set the optimum sensing distance. It plugs directly into the BASIC Stamp-2pe Motherboard and will also interface to any BASIC Stamp module or Propeller board using the optional DB-Expander SIP Converter. The TCS230-DB can detect and measure a nearly limitless range of visible colors. Applications include test strip reading, sorting by color, ambient light sensing and calibration, and color matching, to name just a few.
