Under and/or uneven cooling = bulging / breakout
Over cooling = surface crack
An improper cooling would result in weak spot, visible cracks on billets and uneven surface.
To avoid the above, Secondary Water Automation System is introduced so that proper cooling of billets as well as machine rolls can be done by controlling the quantity, pressure & flow rate of cooling water through PLC with respect to other casing parameters, which results:

Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF) is basically an arcing process between molten metal and the graphite electrodes. LRF refines the molten metal inside the ladle itself with tight control of ladle metallurgy for producing high grades steel with controlled chemistry. LRF facilitates better cleaning, homogenizing, desulfurizing, desulphurization and removing other impurities, as well as holding the molten metal for the next process.
Continuous casting is the process by which molten metal is solidified into a semi finished Billet, Bloom or Slab. Continuous casting has evolved to achieve improved yield quality productivity and cost efficiency.
The working principle of the CCM is that the liquefied metal poured into Tundish which is a container that leads to the Mould that will caste the steel. The Tundish is placed at a certain height above the ground level and the whole process of casting uses gravity to operate the Tundish is constantly supplied with molten steel to keep the process going.
The molten metal moves swiftly through the Mould and does not completely solidify in it. The entire mould is cooled with water. After exiting the spray chamber, the strand passes through straightening rolls and withdrawal rolls. Finally billet is cut in desired length (manually or automatically) and conveyed through roller table & stored in cooling bed or sometimes directly feed to rolling mill.
