Tachogenerator is a device which generates an electrical output directly proportional to the shaft speed. The voltage thus generated is fed to a speedometer for speed measurement and/or used as a feed-back signal for controlling the speed of a rotating machine/equipment. In every automatic control system, since the system performance is directly related to the TG performance, it becomes essential that the TG must satisfy certain minimum requirements such as
Linearity : The rectified output voltage should be strictly linear with respect to the rotational speed. Output signal: The ripple content in the rectified output signal must be as low as possible.
Temperature Effect : Variations in ambient temperature should have negligible effect on the TG output.

The Radiator Cooling Fan is used in Diesel Electric Locomotives to bring down the temperature of the diesel engine cooling water to the desired level. Drive between the engine and radiator fan consists of an Eddy Current Clutch (ECC) type DBOCN F which is capable of providing variable speed and a Bevel Gear Box which provides mechanical coupling between clutch and the fan.
The constant speed member of the Eddy Current Clutch is a ferromagnetic Drum and is rigidly coupled to the prime mover. Here the prime mover is the engine shaft.

Our Switched Reluctance Drive is an innovative high efficient drive system suitable for traction variable speed applications. This new drive system has the advantages of AC and DC drives and overcome their disadvantages namely brush maintenance in DC drives and low starting torque AC drives.
The switched reluctance motor (SRM) is a type of stepper motor that runs by reluctance torque.
It is a next-generation adjustable speed electric drive. In contrast to well-known common DC motor types, Switched Reluctance Motor have toothed stator and rotor, and have neither windings nor permanent magnets in the rotor. Another uniqueness of SRM is that power is delivered to the stator. As electric power is not provided to a rotating member, the mechanical design is therefore simplified and hence lowering manufacturing cost.
Due to the absence of copper windings in the stator, the copper losses are zero. Highly advanced electronic switching circuits are used for the efficient control of SRM operation. The power by weight and torque by weight ratios of SRM are way higher than those of traditional DC motors. Eddy Current Controls are the prominent manufacturers of SRMs in India. Dynodrive consists of Eddy Current Clutch coupled to a prime mover (usually a 3 phase Squirrel cage Induction Motor).There is no direct coupling between the Motor Shaft and the O/P Shaft. Torque is transferred from I/P shaft to O/P shaft by magnetic coupling. Eddy Current clutch consists of a ferromagnetic drum coupled to the prime mover and a multipole inductor made from special alloy steel rotates freely within the drum which is coupled to the load and an excitation coil.Variable
Excitation Voltage ranging from 0 to 80 VDC is given to Exc. Coil though a Thyristor Controlled Electronic Regulator. Depending upon the Exc.Voltage , O/P Shaft rpm varies from 0 to 1200 rpm (For 1500 rpm Prime mover).Max. Speed obtained at the O/P of Dynodrive will be 80% of the speed of the prime mover. Min Speed will be 10 % of the Max speed obtained at O/P shaft. Ie, if the prime mover rpm is 1500, max speed at the O/P will be 1200 rpm (80% of prime mover speed) and min speed will be 120 rpm(10 % of 1200). Dynodrive O/P will deliver Standard Torque of the Prime mover at any rpm ranging for 120 to 1200 rpm.
All eddy current variable speed drives have an integral tacho-generator mounted around the output shaft, to give voltage and frequency proportional to speed, which is used for speed reference feed back signal to the controller and maintains the output speed within 2% for the load changes from 90% to 10%. It can also be used for speed indication. We are manufacturing 3 Types of Dynodrives ranging from 0.4 KW up to 300 KW.
