Welcome to East End Silks (p) Ltd.
In the not too distant past, Bengal was famed for its glorious silks. Bengal silk products, especially from the Murshidabad region, the epicenter of the silk trade, were much sought after all over India and abroad. However, a variety of factors led to the decline of Bengal as a major silk producing centre. East End Silks (P) Ltd was set up to revive the silk trade and restore the erstwhile glory of Bengal silk. The company deeply believes in the Group’s ideology of establishing socially responsible business models. East End Silks was set up at a time when sericulture farmers were not ensured proper price for their produce; with Bangalore filature fetching Rs.3.60/kg Charka fetching Rs.3/kg and silk waste from Malda (West Bengal) fetching Rs.0.75/kg. The company felt responsible to act on their behalf. Today the farmers fetch Rs.280/kg for Bangalore filature, Rs.230/kg for Charka, and Rs.65/kg for Malda silk waste. Social Responsibility is our Bottom line.
