The LTLV AB cables (aerial bunched) cable is a very novel concept in overhead power distribution, as compared with conventional bare conductor in overhead distribution system, AB cables provides higher safety, reliability, lower power losses and ultimate economy by reducing installation, maintenance and operative cost. This superior system is ideal for rural distribution and especially attractive for installation in difficult terrains such as highly areas, forest areas , coastal areas etc. These cables are designed, manufactured & tested conforming to IS: 14255 & other international specifications. Circular stranded hard drawn copper phase conductor, XLPE insulated with concentrically arranged identified neutral and bare earth conductors. Polyethylene sheathed 6001000V service connection cable. Nylon ripcord laid under sheath. Manufactured to SANS 1507 and NRS 063. Small overall diameter – concentric construction (SNE – Separate Neutral Earth). Lower mass – due to smaller diameter – no steel wire armour. Increased safety – reliable earthling. Improved reliability – UV stable sheath and .core insulation and water blocked. Tamper and vandal proof - unauthorized access to phase conductor inhibited by concentric .layer. Easy strip with nylon ripcord.

MV AB cables are highly reliable and insulation has been developed to withstand extreme cold and intense sunlight. Disturbance and faults occur five to ten times more often in open wires lines than in AB cable lines. There is no risk in touching the live cable and the insulation reduces the number of short circuits and overvoltage faults in overhead cables during thunderstorms. Few hardware accessories are needed which are different for different size of cables. Streets can be lit only at little extra cost by using the cable that have an extra conductor for lighting. The cable can be supplied with one or two insulated conductors for street lighting.
