A thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) (see Figure 1) is a refrigeration and air conditioning throttling device that controls the amount of refrigerant liquid injected into a systems evaporatorbased on the evaporator outlet temperature and pressurecalled the superheat. Figure 2 shows the different phases and pressures the refrigerant goes through as it is pumped through the system, moving through the evaporator, the compressor, the condenser, and the throttling device which injects liquid refrigerant into the evaporator before it moves into the compressor.

Audco Plug Valve:

AUDCO Lubricated Taper Plug Valve has been successfully used in a variety of services because of its unique in-line maintenance capability. The AUDCO Taper Plug Valves are manufactured in sizes 1/2″ to 12″ and used in a variety of liquid, gaseous and slurry services. The tapered seating surfaces of the Body and Plug are not exposed to the line fluid when the valve is in the open position, so that the erosion and corrosion of the media are confined to the lesser important part of the Valve. The ‘Super LoMu’ Plug coating and the patented sealant provide low friction, low torque and easier operation of the Valve.

 

The Taper Plug valve is manufactured in sizes 1/2 inch thru 12 inch and is used on a wide variety of liquid, gaseous, and slurry services.

 

The tapered plug is held firmly into its tapered seat but can be adjusted so that complete leak tightness is achieved together with smooth valve operation. The tapered seat surfaces of the plug and body are not exposed to the line fluid when the valve is in the open position, so that the effects of corrosion and erosion are confined to the less important parts of the valve. Also since there is a straight flow path through the valve, there is very little resistance to flow and pressure loss is minimized.

 

All Carbon Steel taper plug valves, sizes 1-1/2 inch and above, have plugs with Flowserve Audco Super LoMu treatment. In this unique process, low friction PTFE is incorporated in the surface structure of the valve plug metal. This gives easier operation and enhanced resistance to taper lock over thousands of operations or many years of service.

 

The taper plug valve is not a pressure balanced plug valve and therefore is supplied only up to ANSI #300. For higher pressure classes or more critical services the Super-H valve shall be selected.

In the application where foot valve is involved, the main concern of the user is letting away of media by the foot valve. This calls for the ‘priming.’ of the the pump which is time consuming & tedious job. If the “on-off frequency” is more, the trouble rises multifolds. A heavily leaking foot valve can also give rise to start up trouble to pump as suction line never gets filled completely. A leaking foot valve can cause not only time wastage but also delay in process industry where water is required at particular instant.

In typical case of Fire fighting application, if foot valve leaks, pump is not started can cause damage to property as well as life.

Even in application in irrigation / agriculture sector, where electricity is available for limited time & intermittent (in rural India) priming pump every time/any time of day & night is a loss to pumping time.

 

With Ball foot valve (Threaded or Flange) installed the frequent priming is totally avoided for a very long span months to years.

Ball foot valve(Flange): Model B-05(N)

• These flangedfoot valves are available from 50mm to 200mm sizes with 6.0 kg/cm2 working pressure.

Ball Foot valve (Flanged) B-05These are the check valves converted to foot valves by installing strainer to the inlet side.

• They are generally recommended for sizes of 250mm, 300mm & 350mm NB.However, smaller sizes from 25mm TO 200mm are available & can withstand pressures of 16/10 kg/cm2 depending on size.

 

For normal application Model B-05(N) is recommended in the sizes from 50mm to 200mm.

Normex Ball Type Check Valves (NRV) B-01 was the first of the valve at Normex with unique design and technology for the first time in India. A very simple and robust design with no mechanism involved. The heart of valve is rubber coated ball. The mechanism hinge-pin-disc used in conventional check valves is eliminated and Normex has put in this rubber coated ball to arrest flow media in return condition.

 

As the pump starts, the ball moves out totally from the flow path when the pumping is on giving a full bore maximum flow/discharge with minimum head losses. (Fig. A). As the pump stops, the ball rolls back and seats perfectly on the rounded valves seat ensuring totally leak proof sealing.(Fig. B)
