Our product range contains a wide range of generator transformers, Converter Duty Transformer, HT Current Transformer, Oil cooled Transformer and phase shifting transformer

Generator Transformers

  • RATINGS 30 to 400 MVA, Up to 575 MVA
  • VOLTAGES 66 to 550 kV, Up to 525 kV
Generator Step-up Transformer units are used to increase the voltage of a generator and connect the supply to a bus bar. Generator Transformers are also used to limit the fault level of the generator in case of a fault. Transformers used for these applications are called Generator Step-up Units. These Transformers are designed to operate at near full load. Generator step-up transformers are manufactured by CG in accordance to the latest applicable national and international standards. Our transformers meet the needs of utility, industrial and commercial customers. Typical generator step-up transformers have cover-mounted primary and secondary bushings. However other configurations can be provided. Every time a fault occurs in the grid, these transformers are subjected to stress. As these transformers are connected to the grid, they are subjected to constant voltage fluctuations. Voltage fluctuations cause stress to the transformer windings. These windings have to be specially designed to withstand these stresses. Localized heating is another issue which is a result of over excitation by the generator during voltage fluctuations. Localized heating can damage the metallic accessories of the transformer. Generator step-up transformers manufactured by CG India have effective low temperature rise.

Converter Duty Transformer

CG offers converter transformers, which operate at the fundamental frequency of an alternating system. These are designed for one or more output windings connected to the rectifier loads. We offer Induction Thyristor duty transformers suitable for 3 Pulse 6 Pulse 12 Pulse 18 Pulse drive configurations. It is possible to make major changes in the output current and voltage by using a transformer with a different rectifier configuration. Extra care is taken in design and manufacture of Induction Thyristor transformers due to the harmonics that are likely to appear in the transformer windings. These harmonics are likely to increase the stray losses in the transformer.

Oil Cooled Transformer

  • RATINGS 315 to 4000 kVA
  • VOLTAGES 6.6 to 33 kV
CG began operations over 70 years ago with their first supply to the US Army. Today we offer a wide range of conventional distribution transformers globally. We provide reliable designs, excellent materials and globally benchmarked manufacturing practices. Our transformers find use in industries such as power utilities, process industries, railways, mines and other industries. Our products are designed based on the latest simulation techniques and exhibit a fully type tested range.

Phase Shifting Transformer

  • RATINGS Up to 500 MVA
  • VOLTAGES Up to 525 kV
Phase-shifting transformers are used to control the active power flow in the power grid by regulating phase angle. These transformers are used in networks where intensive power-wheeling takes place due to deregulation. Phase-shifting transformers are available with non-symmetrical direct or indirect regulation and symmetrical direct or indirect regulation. Technical specifications and transport restrictions will determine the final configuration in respect of a single-tank, double-tank or triple-tank design. Product scope depends on technical specifications and requirements.

Oil Immersed Transformer

  • RATINGS 4 to 31.5 MVA
  • VOLTAGES 6.6 to 132 kV
CG offers a wide range of low power oil immersed transformers such as generator duty, unit auxiliary transformers and multi winding transformers. All these transformers are customized for industrial plants and distribution substations. Our transformers are extremely versatile with robust construction and highest quality standards.

Pole Mounted Transformer

  • RATINGS Up to 100 kVA
  • VOLTAGES Up to 36 kV
CG Power Systems produces several thousand single phase pole mount transformers every year. Single phase pole mount distribution transformers are used mainly in the United Kingdom and Ireland, where some suburban and rural electricity distribution is by single-phase overhead lines to sites close to consumers. The simplest basic tank design used is the cylindrical tank configuration with HV outdoor shedded bushings on the tank cover and LV bushings also on the tank cover or alternatively on the tank side. Arcing horns or lightning arresters can be fitted as required.

Auxiliary Transformer

  • VOLTAGES 6.6 to 66 kV
  • RATINGS 100 to 1250 kVA
Earthing transformers are designed to protect a system against phase-earth fault currents for a given fault time duration. These transformers are used to get a neutral point and provide earthing for non grounding systems. For example, when delta windings between two transformers are connected, the system is not earthed. In such a system earthing transformer provides grounding and protection against earth faults. These transformers are commonly "inter-star" or even known as Zig-Zag connected transformers. We have the expertise in manufacturing a wide range of earthing transformers based on customer requirements.

Regulating Transformers

  • RATINGS 2 to 20 MVA
  • VOLTAGES 11 to 66 kV
The voltage regulators are normally connected to the line end of transmission system to provide additional voltage regulation. The voltage regulators are equipped with wide range voltage variation of on load tap changer. The transformers consist of 2 small active parts (shunt and series transformer). Shunt transformer is connected parallel to the system voltage, and the serie transformer is connected serial to the system to boost and buck the system voltage
