Boron is used in aluminium and its alloys as a grain refiner and to improve the conductivity by precipitating vanadium, titanium, chromium, and molybdenum. All of these are detrimental to the electrical conductivity at their usual impurity levels in commercial grade aluminium. Boron can be used alone (at levels of 0.005 to 0.1 %) as a grain refiner during solidification, Use of CERALOY-B is far more environment friendly than the conventional salt based refiners. Since no chemical reaction is involved, crucible life can be improved.
CERAFLUX - 88 is highly exo-thermic in nature. Recommended for cleaning furnaces which are accumulated with Corundum (aluminium - oxide- Al2O3). Corundum is highly insulating in nature leads to increase in consumption of fuel in furnace and decrease the melting area of furnace. To remove the Corundum (Al2O3) layer from furnace CERAFLUX -88 is recommended. Pre-heat the furnace to Red Hot condition i.e. 750 - 7800C Sprinkle the CERAFLUX - 88 over Red-Hot aluminium oxide. Wait 5-10 minutes for completion of reaction i.e.with reaction molten Aluminium tricles out from aluminium oxide and accumulates at bottom of furnace. Put-on the furnace and heat the furnace again to speed-up the reaction. Scrap the layer with the help of M.S. scraper OR any other scrapping tool.
Stir the coating thoroughly before application Take out requisite quantity of Craftanol-256 IP; if required dilute the coating by CRAFTANOL THINNER to desired degree of consistency as per application practice. Brushing:- Ready For Use(After thorough mixing) Apply the coating by brushing. Ignite the coating immediately after applying. In case of large moulds part mould to be coated & ignited immediately.Craftanol- 256 IP is recommended for high temperature metals like Steels, Alloy Steels, heavy section cast irons and for copper base alloys. High temperature metals heavy section cast iron precision cast iron casting requires high temperature coating barriers which can withstand high metallostatic pressure of liquid metal to prevent Sand fusion other problems related to Sand and to improve the surface finish of Casting.
CERAFLUX - 49 is an off-white coloured powder flux used for copper base alloys during melting. Pure copper or copper alloys are very difficult to melt and are very susceptible to gassing. In case of alloys the oxidation losses of alloying element should be reduced. Under the coating cover of CERAFLUX- 49 both oxidation losses and the pickup of hydrogen from moisture in the atmosphere are prevented. The percentage addition of CERAFLUX – 49 is 1% on metal weight for good scrap. For turning boring etc. type of scrap 3-4% CERAFLUX – 49 is required on the metal weight.
