CIL provides 'Ingress Protection Testing' services in Surat. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc.

Ingress protection testing is performed to check for a products ability to resist the infiltration of water, dust, and other foreign solids to ensure functionality, safety, and product compliance. It is part of waterproofness testing. Obtaining the appropriate IP rating for products is essential in various industries, from consumer electronics, automobiles, avionics to wires and cables. IP rating varies over a range of degrees of protection from liquids or solids or both depending on the industrial standard, the product tested, and marketing requirements. Rating is designated with IP followed by two numbers. The first number stands for protection against solids, and the second for liquids. For example, IP67 denotes the product is rated with full protection against solid objects like dust and sand, and it has been tested to work for at least 30 minutes while under 15cm to 1m of water.

Most testing is performed to test the products fittings and joints, hermetic seals, open ports, coatings, shields, gaskets, etc. Waterproofness testing is performed to check components against water jets, continuous streams, drip, sprays, immersion for s specific time, pressure, and temperature testing. Dust and sand testing is also performed as part of IP rating tests. What is Ingress Protection (IP)The IP Code, or Ingress Protection Code is defined in IEC standard 60529 which classifies and rates the degree of protection provided by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures against intrusion, dust, accidental contact, and water. The standard aims to provide users more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof.

What do the two digits in an IP Rating mean? The rating consists of the letters IP followed by two digits, the higher the number the better the protection. Sometimes a number is replaced by X, which indicates that the enclosure is not rated for that specification.IP65 = First Digit Solids (The first digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against the ingress of solid foreign objects, IP65 = Second Digit Liquids (The second digit defines the protection of the equipment against various forms of moisture (drips, sprays, submersion etc.).

Solid Object Protection0 No protection assured1 Protection assured against solid objects that are over 50mm (e.g. hands).2 Protection assured against solid objects that are over 12.5mm3 Protection assured against solid objects that are over 2.5mm4 Protection assured against solid objects that are over 1mm5 Protected against quantity of dust that could interfere with the normal operation of the product but not fully dust tight. Complete protection against solid objects.6 Fully dust tight and complete protection against solid objects.

Liquids Ingress Protection0 No protection assured.1 Protection assured against vertical drops of water.2 Protection assured against vertical drops of water when the product is tilted up to 15 from its normal position.3 Protection assured against direct sprays of water at any angle up to 60.4 Protection assured against water splashing from any angle.5 Protection assured against water jets projected by a nozzle (6.3mm) from any angle.6 Protection assured against powerful water jets projected by a nozzle (12.5mm) from any angle.7 Protection assured against water immersion at a depth between 15 cm and 1 meter for maximum 30 minutes.8 Protection assured against long periods of water immersion at a depth of over 1 meter.

CDG Inspection Ltd aims to deliver a complete solution that is suited to your company's specific requirements with ingress protection testing services from Gurgaon, Haryana. Tests for ingress protection are carried out in line with IEC 60529. The testing will evaluate the equipment's resistance against solid bodies and/or liquids intrusion, with varying degrees of protection based on the demands you set on your product.

The degree to which products/enclosures protect the interior working parts from water, dust, and solids is measured during ingress protection testing. IP testing is necessary for a variety of applications, including mobile phone covers, aircraft electronics, and high-voltage transformers.

Depending on the customer's needs, we perform ingress protection testing in accordance with IEC 60529 for protection against solid foreign objects and/or liquids. Ingress Protection testing, or IP testing, tests a product's ability to protect against ingress, that is, the infiltration of water, dust, and foreign objects.

CDG Group provides testing services from IP1x to IP6x (Protection against objects) and IPx1 to IPx9 (Protection against liquids). The first digit of these IP codes indicates the ingress protection against solid bodies and the second digit indicates the protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against the ingress of water.

Standard Ratings for Dust:

IP5X Dust protected: This is tested by inspection to ensure any dust that enters would not interfere with the parts functionality.

IP6X Dust tight: This rating implies there can be no ingress of dust at all.

Standard Ratings for Ingress by Water:

IPX0 The item is not protected at all against ingress by water.

IPX1 The item is protected against vertically falling water droplets, meaning any droplets that fall on the item will not result in damage or interrupted functioning of components.

IPX2 This rating extends IPX1 by ensuring protection against falling water droplets at an angle up to 15 degrees from vertical.

IPX3 The item is safe from the ingress of sprayed water up to an angle of 60 degrees from vertical impact. The spray can come in an oscillating pattern with a flow rate that depends on the item tested.

IPX4 This rating extends IPX3 to include protection against ingress from splashing water from all directions. It is tested by exposing an item to an oscillating spray for a minimum of 10 minutes. An item passes when there is limited ingress with no harmful effects.

IPX5 The item is protected against ingress from low-pressure water jets directed from any angle if there is limited ingress with no harmful effects.

IPX6 This rating extends IPX5. The water pressure in this test can reach 1 bar.

IPX7 This rating goes further than IPX6 and indicates protection from temporary immersion in water. The rating is given after immersing an item in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes with no harmful effects.

IPX8 This rating extends the IPX7 rating for immersion in water to a greater depth and for longer periods of time. The conditions of the immersion are agreed upon between the manufacturer and the testing facility.

CIL provides 'Ingress Protection Testing' services in Mumbai. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc.

IP Testing Procedure IP testing is generally done on enclosure which can be place indoor or outdoor to calculate the level of protection from water, dust or other solid objects. CDG private ltd is capable to perform Ingress Protection testing in its own premises. CDG has the calibrated nozzles, immersion tanks and dust chamber as demanded by Standards. CDG had created full facilities to do water and dust testing.

All the IP testing is in its scope. All equipment is calibrated and are accurate to determine results. The Talcum powder used in Dust chamber is also as per IEC 60529 to test accurately. We would like to discuss IP testing against water in details. First of all, we will elaborate the IP against water. For IP X5 and IPX6, the EUT to be tested is placed on the proper stand with a maintained distance of 2.5 3 m between nozzles to enclosure as per standard requirement. Then comes the nozzles (12.5mm or 6.3mm), a nozzle as per requirement is being selected. Now we have to apply the pressure. A pressure of 12.5 l/min 5 % is applied while using 6.3mm nozzle and the pressure of 100 l/min 5 % is applied while using 12.5mm nozzle for 3 mins duration. Then a visual inspection is done for the any water present inside the enclosure. For IP X4, the EUT is placed on the stand.

An oscillating tube rotates at an angle of 180 vertically sprays the water on EUT. The nozzles of oscillating tube spray water at 0.07 l/min 5 % per hole multiplied by number of holes i.e., 10l/min 5 %. The duration of the test is 10 min. after the test, engineer visually inspect for any water leaks by EUTs. For IPX7, the EUT is fully immersed in water at level of 150 mm excluding the height of the sample. The test is performed for 30 Mins. For IPX8, the EUT is immersed in water 1 m above from the bottom of enclosure. The test is performed for 24 hr. or as per manufacturer demand. IP X1, IP X2 and IP X3 are also performed in the lab. Ingress Protection is the rating of the degree of protection provided by an enclosure with respect to foreign objects.

These foreign objects may be dust, accidental contact or water. The IP code is formulated from a possible combination of IP tests to provide the full IP rating code. The IP codes that are shown on many consumer products are defined by International Protection Marking sometimes interpreted as Ingress Protection Marking. Many electrical & consumer products may require IP testing either as it is mandated and has become increasingly common for marketing claims, examples would include waterproof mobile phones.

CIL are capable to test and issue an accredited A2LA/NATA test report to IEC 60529 or AS 60529 (Degree of Protection provided by enclosure (IP Code testing) up to IP6X (Dust) and IPX8 (Water).Enclosure Protection testing involves assessing ability of the product or its enclosure to provide protection against: IPx4 testing Electrical Enclosure ingress of water (drip, spray, jet, immersion) ingress of dust solid foreign objects access to hazardous parts mechanical impact.

CIL provides 'Ingress Protection Testing' services in Patna. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc.

Here are the standard ratings for ingress by foreign objects and dust how to interpret them:

IP0X: This rating indicates the item is not protected at all against ingress from foreign objects.

IP1X: This rating stipulates the item is protected against access from the back of a hand and solid foreign objects that are greater than 50 mm (about 2 inches).

IP2X: This rating indicates that any hazardous parts cannot be accessed by a finger or solid objects greater than 12.5 mm (about half an inch). This is tested using a jointed finger that is 12 mm to 80 mm long.

IP3X: This rating is given for items in which hazardous parts cannot be accessed using a tool, such as a screwdriver, or by solid foreign objects greater than 2.5 mm (about one-tenth of an inch). This is verified using a 2.5 mm access probe, which cannot penetrate the item.

IP4X: This rating applies to items in which hazardous parts cannot be accessed even with a wire, or foreign objects greater than 1.0 mm. This is tested using a 1.0 mm access probe and by inspection to ensure any dust that enters would not interfere with the parts functionality.

IP5X: This rating applies to hazardous parts that cant be accessed, even with a wire, and protection against ingress from dust is also applicable. This is tested using a 1.0 mm access probe and by inspection to ensure any dust that enters would not interfere with the parts functionality.

IP6X: There can be no ingress of dust at all for this rating. Otherwise, it is similar to IP5X with the exception that the item is completely sealed off from dust.

Next, here are the ratings for ingress by liquids:

IPX0: This rating indicates the item is not protected at all against ingress by liquids.

IPX1: This rating illustrates the item is protected against vertically-falling liquid drops, meaning any that fall on the item will have no harmful effect.

IPX2: This rating extends IPX1 by ensuring protection against falling liquid drops at an angle up to 15 degrees.

IPX3: This rating is given when an item is safe from ingress from spraying liquid. This is tested by spraying water at an angle up to 60 degrees of vertical and establishing that no harm came from this. The spray can come in an oscillating pattern with a flow rate that depends on the item tested.

IPX4: This rating extends IPX3 to include protection against ingress from splashing liquids. It is tested by establishing that splashed water has no harmful effect on the item.

IPX5: This rating applies to items that are protected against ingress from jets of liquid. It is given after testing with water jets, and it shows there were no harmful effects.

IPX6: This rating is given for items that can provide protection against ingress from powerful jets of liquid. Its an extended version of IPX5. The water pressure in this test can reach 14.5 pounds per square inch (PSI).

IPX7: This rating goes further and indicates protection from temporary immersion in liquids. The rating is given after immersing an item in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes with no harmful effects.

IPX8: This rating extends the IPX7 rating for water immersion to a greater depth and longer periods of time. The conditions of the water immersion are agreed upon between the manufacturer and the testing facility. The specifications have to be marked plainly on the product.

These ratings are established in an ANSI test standard called IEC 60529. Some rating systems extend the second number to a possible 9, which indicates protection from steam-jet cleaning.

Testing is verified in each case by a testing engineer, whose job it is to inspect the tested item immediately after the test is completed to determine the result. Its very important that the test engineer be well-trained and knowledgeable in conducting the test and reporting the results.

CIL provides 'Ingress Protection Testing' services in Bhopal. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc.

There are several reasons for ingress testing, including safety, functionality and product marketing. Many products require insulation from outside elements in order to function properly. Those outside elements include mist, steam, sprayed water, sand, oil and even fingers, just to name a few. Ingress protection testing helps determine whether a particular product is going to function appropriately when placed in the field.

Ingress Protection tests are conducted in accordance with IEC 60529. The testing will assess the protection of the equipment against ingress of solid bodies and/or liquids, varying over differing degrees of protection, depending upon the requirements you place on your product. We will then measure the effects of this exposure, and give the product an appropriate IP rating. Ingress Protection tests are conducted in accordance with IEC 60529/EN60529.The level of protection of a product is signified by a number (e.g., IP56) where the first number is the ingress protection against solid bodies, and the second number is protection against liquid. Dust ingress testing is performed using a latest self-contained talc powder circulating chamber. The airflow circulates upward from the bottom, blowing the dust in a circular motion around the units under test. Water ingress again uses high tech simulation equipment giving protection from dripping water (rain and spray) through to sprays and water jets to high pressure immersion testing.

Testing is verified in each case by our knowledgeable engineers, whose job it is to inspect the tested item immediately after completion and produce a report. The level of protection of a product is signified by a number (e.g. IP67) where the first number is the ingress protection against solid bodies, and the second number is protection against liquids. Ingress protection (IP) testing reduces the risk of product failure in the field by assessing the degree of protection provided against mechanical intrusion, dust, accidental contact and water into casings and enclosures. IP codes are widely used to indicate the degree of water-proof and dustproof properties of electric equipment The IP codes defined in IEC 60529 classifies the degree of protection against the ingress of foreign material (including steel balls, copper wire, water, dirt and dust) into the enclosure of electrical and mechanical products. Our competent engineers are exceptional at interpreting the IP standards. This provides manufacturers with help in determining acceptable amounts of ingress. If the unit that requires testing is too large to move, no problem. We have experience completing ingress protection testing at our customers facilities. Our customers enjoy our short lead times. We take pride in our ability to explain the process and testing requirements.

CIL also offers consultative ingress protection engineering support when failures occur. From a budget perspective, our pricing is affordable. CIL provides 'Ingress Protection Testing' services in Lucknow. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc.

Ingress Protection testing, or IP testing, tests a products ability to protect against ingress, that is, the infiltration of water, dust and foreign objects. Some of the standards related to IP testing are MIL-STD-810 (Military), RTCA/DO-160 (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics), and IEC 60529 (International Electrotechnical Commission).

Some ingress testing is conducted under a variety of temperature and pressure settings. This is important because in certain cases, contact with water can change the internal pressure of a component. If thats important, specific materials such as Gore-Tex can be used to vent pressure differentials.

In other cases, a device might need to allow air to flow through it, but it still must block water. For example, consider a microphone that will record a singer singing a tune. It functions by operating on the pressure waves caused by the singers voice, but any water that might flow into the microphone could render it useless.

Fortunately, water has surface tension, and it can be impeded by a mesh made of either plastic or wire. The mesh traps the water and mostly prevents it from entering the microphone, while the mesh still lets air flow freely.

What Products Need Ingress Protection?

In America and Canada, many products that are governed by engineering standards such as UL or CSA standards must indicate an ingress protection (or IP) rating. These products include computers, laboratory equipment, certain medical devices, light fixtures as well as products that must remain dust-free or moisture-resistant. Items that are sealed and will likely be placed in hazardous places also need IP ratings.

In certain cases, IP testing is voluntary, but sellers often ask manufacturers for an IP rating before placing a product in inventory. For example, a hardware store might demand that all outdoor lights it sells come with an IP rating against ingress from moisture. The hardware store doesnt want to get a lot of returned merchandise or be liable in case of some accident that occurs because of a failure of the product. In a case like this, its incumbent on the manufacturer to meet the sellers standards.

Some other typical products that need ingress protection include components in automotive and military applications. In these cases, water pressure testing is crucial because water can foul the system. Water is often used for cleaning, however, so the product must be resistant to water potentially entering sensitive components.

Water spray testing can help ensure gaskets that cover seals in these systems are well-fitted. Its also important to consider spray testing can involve water dispensed at high-velocity, which presents its own challenges.

Sometimes water can work its way past even a well-sealed gasket. Ensuring the gasket includes a shield that blocks water spray can be important in maintaining the serviceability of a gasket in these conditions.

Other common items that require ingress protection testing include electrical sockets, cell phones, refrigerators (particularly their electric motors) and wrist watches.

What Is IP Testing?

Ingress Protection testing, or IP testing, tests a products ability to protect against ingress, that is, the infiltration of water, dust and foreign objects. Some of the standards related to IP testing are MIL-STD-810 (Military), RTCA/DO-160 (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics), and IEC 60529 (International Electrotechnical Commission).

Why Is Ingress Testing Used?

There are several reasons for ingress testing, including safety, functionality and product marketing.

Many products require insulation from outside elements in order to function properly. Those outside elements include mist, steam, sprayed water, sand, oil and even fingers, just to name a few. Ingress protection testing helps determine whether a particular product is going to function appropriately when placed in the field.

What Products Need to Be Protected Against Ingress?

Different products require different levels of testing and different types of testing. Generally, ingress protection is divided into testing for ingress from foreign objects or liquids. With many products, the point where it would be most likely to fail comes at a seam between two parts.

Testing at the Seams

Dust and water can find their way inside a product at a seam that joins two parts. Therefore, seams between components are often sealed by a gasket either a rigid or a flexible gasket.

Rigid gaskets provide structural stability and greater protection against ingress than flexible gaskets, and flexible gaskets may provide greater overall functionality for the product. However, flexible gaskets often present a challenge when trying to keep out the elements. Their flexibility can sometimes leave small gaps in a seal where the outside environment can find its way inside the product.

In addition, gaskets are sometimes fitted improperly or are screwed or bolted with too little or too much pressure. Either way, a gap in the seam between two components can develop, and it can provide a source for outside elements to work their way into the product.

What Are Issues with Ingress Protection Testing?

There are several issues that arise with ingress protection testing. One is that ingress protection testing requires a rigorous facility and thorough performance. Another issue is that the manufacturer must have a good understanding of the level of ingress protection thats required for their product. For example, an electrical socket might need a rating of IP22, indicating that the socket cannot be penetrated by a finger, and falling liquid cant get into the socket at an angle up to 15 degrees.

In contrast, an electric motor in a refrigerator might require ratings varying from IP42 to IP66. Typically, the higher the rating, the higher the cost in design and manufacturing. So, it pays for a manufacturer to think about the ingress protection thats really necessary for the product. Any additional protection may provide only additional marketing potential.

For example, Samsungs Galaxy S5 mobile phone has a rating of IP67. It is completely impervious to dust and dirt, and it can survive being submerged for 30 minutes in up to 1 meter of water. Its challenging to think of an application for a phone that requires being submerged in 1 meter of water for this long, but it provides a marketing angle for the product.

Ingress protection testing assesses the degree to which products/enclosures protect the inner working parts against water, dust, and solids. IP testing is critical for a wide range of applications from cell phone cases and aerospace electronics to high-voltage transformers.

The IP ratings, which are outlined by the international ingress protection testing standard IEC 60529, depend of the target use and are identified as IP XY where the first digit (X, from 1-6) indicates the level of protection against Solids and Dust while the second digit (Y, from 1-8) indicates the level of protection against Water.

CIL now has the capability to test all possible combinations (water drip, spray, jet, dust, solid probes), including the most severe IP68 (dust tight and protected against high water pressure, steam and water immersion).

CIL ingress protection tests include water spraying, splashing, flushing, submerging and condensation. We also perform dust ingress tests in dust circulation chambers, and ingress tests using foreign objects and probes. Our accredited ingress protection tests include spraying, splashing and flushing, submerging in water tanks and condensation via dripping.

However, just because an item passes a certain level of testing doesnt mean it will assuredly pass all levels of a lower value. For instance, a product might survive immersion in water, but it wont survive having a water jet shot at it for multiple minutes. When it doubts, inquire further about the testing a particular product has received. One other issue to consider is that different standards for ingress protection, such as ANSI/UL standards are not necessarily equivalent to IP standards. The testing protocols differ, and so satisfaction with one standard does not necessarily imply satisfaction with all other standards.

The ratings for ingress by liquids: IPX0: This rating indicates the item is not protected at all against ingress by liquids.IPX1: This rating illustrates the item is protected against vertically-falling liquid drops, meaning any that fall on the item will have no harmful effect.IPX2: This rating extends IPX1 by ensuring protection against falling liquid drops at an angle up to 15 degrees.IPX3: This rating is given when an item is safe from ingress from spraying liquid.

WHAT IS INGRESS PROTECTION (IP) TESTING AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Ingress protection (IP) testing reduces the risk of product failure in the field by assessing the degree of protection provided against mechanical intrusion, dust, accidental contact and water into casings and enclosures.

The IP code classifies the effectiveness of enclosures against the intrusion of solid bodies and/or liquid. The IP Code consists of the letters IP followed by two digits and an optional letter. The first digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against access to hazardous parts and the ingress of solid foreign objects. The second digit indicates protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against harmful ingress of water. The additional letter can be appended to classify only the level of protection against access to hazardous parts by persons.

The Degree of Protection provided by an enclosure is indicated by the IP coding such as IPXXCHIP IP is the Code letters X First Characteristics numeral Dust Protection (numerals 0-6 or latter X) X Second Characteristics numeral Water Protection (numeral 0-8 or latter X) C Additional Letter optional, letters A, B, C, DH Supplementary letters optional, letters H, M, S, W Applicable Standard: IS/IEC 60529.Ingress Protection (IP) Test Certification CIL can offer UKAS Accredited ingress protection Certification. Ingress Protection forms part of the process of determining the level of protection provided by equipment enclosures. A device might need to allow air to flow through it, but it still must block water.

Are you looking to get an IP rating for your products? Every year a number of products go through various tests before they are launched in the market or rashes in the consumer's hand. This type of test includes electromagnetic compatibility testing, product safety rating, vibration testing, and more. IP testing or ingress protection testing is one among them. It offers an assurance to consumers that the product they are receiving is secured and created keeping quality as the first priority.

Once manufacturers and companies receive IP ratings for a product the distribution of product among consumers becomes smoother and easier. Not only that but in return companies and manufacturers are also able to generate more sales and revenue. With IP rating you are able to offer your consumer a detailed idea about how resistant and enclosed your electrical product is to outside elements like dust and water.

What Is Ingress Protection Testing?

Ingress Protection testing evaluates the resistance to particle and liquid entry for an enclosed product. After testing has been performed, the product receives an IP rating, based on IEC 60529, according to the achieved resistance to solid particles and liquids. NEMA testing issues type ratings which carry a number of enclosure requirements, supplementary to solid and liquid ingress. CIL specializes in all testing required for IP & NEMA type ratings. What Products Need to Be Protected Against Ingress? In America and Canada, many products must indicate an ingress protection (or IP) rating. These products include computers, laboratory equipment, certain medical devices and light fixtures. In certain cases, IP testing is voluntary, but sellers often ask manufacturers for an IP rating.

What Products Need to Be Protected Against Ingress?

Different products require different levels of testing and different types of testing. Generally, ingress protection is divided into testing for ingress from foreign objects or liquids. With many products, the point where it would be most likely to fail comes at a seam between two parts. Testing at the Seams Dust and water can find their way inside a product at a seam that joins two parts.

Why Is Ingress Testing Used?

There are several reasons for ingress testing, including safety, functionality and product marketing Many products require insulation from outside elements in order to function properly. Those outside elements include mist, steam, sprayed water, sand, oil and even fingers, just to name a few. Ingress protection testing helps determine whether a particular product is going to function appropriately when placed in the field.

Ingress Protection Testing.Ingress Protection(IP)Testingfor all protection types andIPCodes

Ingress protection (IP) testing reduces the risk of product failure in the field by assessing the degree of protection provided against mechanical intrusion, dust, accidental contact and water into casings and enclosures.

Today various products, mainly smartphones, come across water drop related issues. Not only smartphones but there are various IOT products that need protection against these unintentional contacts. Many times, dust and other particles also become the reason behind these risks. Some of the risks include water splash, dust, exposure to rain water and more. To assure customers for better product protection every manufacturer and business looks to get the IP rating. CDG India can help you with that. So, let's start with undertaking what IP rating is?

What is IP rating?

The term IP stands for international or ingress protection marking that reflects the degree of protection a product holds. It was drawn up by the International Electrochemical Commission (ICE) to help consumers select the best and quality assured product. IP rating is followed by two number where the first digital helps consumers to determine the extent to which the product is protected against different particles and hazards. Whereas the second number displays the protection of the product against liquid products.

Importance of IP rating

By getting the IP rating for your product you are able to highlight the level of protection your product holds against solid and liquid elements. This way consumers are able to determine whether the product they are buying meets their expectations or not. Apart from that, users buying the product are well aware of the protective measure so that they are able to work more safely without damaging the product.

If a product is certified with IP68 rating then it means one can easily drop his/her smartphone in the freshwater. Whereas if the phone is droppers in the ocean or chlorinated water then it can cause problems. Whereas if the particular product is having IP67 rating then it indicated that the product is dust tight and can survive up to one meter of water for not more than 30 minutes.

Today consumers are educated enough to differentiate between various types of IP rating and so that they get the best product. If your product has an IP rating of 67 or 68 then it will not only make your product the first choice of consumers but they are likely to make the final purchase of your product.

Why hire CDG India For IP rating?

When a company or a manufacturer plans to get an IP rating for their product then they need to get it tested by a certified or independent company. The company put the product into test testing then assigned the numerical rating that signifies how well the product is protected from the solid and liquid. If you are looking to get the IP rating for the product then you need to look for professionals that can help you with that.

How is an IP Code Determined? The IP Code has two digits. The code ranges from IP0X to IPX9. The first digit ranges from 0 to 6. It is the ingress protection against solid bodies. The second digit ranges from 0 to 9. It is the ingress protection against liquids. The two digits in an ingress protection marking code are completely independent of each other. Some devices only need to be IP rated to one of the two digits. If a product is only tested to liquid and not solids, it can have an x for the solids digit. This is why the testing is sometimes called IPX testing. Given these parameters, there are 70 combinations of ingress protection codes. To provide some examples of IP Codes: IP 67 test: The test item is dust tight and provides immersion protection up to 1 meter. IPx4 testing: The item was not tested to solids but provides splashing water ingress protection. For more information, view our list of Popular IP Code Standards.

What is IP69K Testing? There is on IP code case test different than the rest. IP 69K ratings represent an enclosure that is dust tight and liquid resistant from high pressure and high temperature water jets. The IP69K rating is also considered steam jet testing. This rating provides the highest level of case, enclosure and seal testing. What are the Most Common Enclosure Protection Standards? One of the most popular enclosure testing standards is IEC 60529 / EN 60529. NEMA 250 ingress protection is also very popular. Some of the other popular standards are IEC 60598 and ISO 20653. There is a cross-reference chart between NEMA and IP Codes, which has been included below. There are also several military enclosure standards. These include MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-750 and MIL-STD-883. RTCA-DO-160 also has a waterproofness section. The degree of protection is extremely important to the military. IP ratings for retailers can also reference military standards to enhance product marketability. Why is CIL the Best IP Code Test Lab? From IP0X to IPX9, CIL can accommodate every ingress protection test needed. Our ISO-17025 accreditation includes all 70 IP rating combinations. Our experience sets us apart. CIL helps manufacturers determine ingress points in their products. We also are experts at identifying potential solutions.

Water Ingress Protection Testing There are several methods of determining if a case is a waterproof enclosure. The waterproofness testing can include liquid of various levels, volumes and test durations. Products can be exposed to dripping water testing. They can also undergo driving rain tests or spraying water tests. The driving rain or water jet test can be from a garden hose or a fire hose. Immersion testing is also a component of ingress protection IP testing. The test item is immersed in water. The depth of the submersion and time of exposure is defined in the international standards. Different products must be immersion proof to meet the IP test standard requirements. Liquids for IP testing can also be conditioned. Products going on ships may need to be tested in cold water. The liquids can also be corrosive. For example, we have completed several ocean simulations. Products were immersed in cold salt water to simulate ocean conditions.

What Are the Ingress Protection Ratings? Ingress protection ratings are standardized ratings that are used to describe the type and degree of ingress protection that a particular item possesses. The ratings come in two sets: One is for foreign objects and dust (that is, solid bodies), and the other is for liquids (such as water). Each rating starts with IP, which stands for ingress protection. The first number after IP pertains to the rating against ingress by foreign objects and dust. The second number refers to protection against ingress by liquids. When addressing either one of these two types of contaminants, the remaining type is identified with an X. For example, IP1X pertains to a rating of 1 against ingress by foreign objects and dust, and the X indicates the rating for ingress against liquids is not given. Note that an X does not indicate zero protection. Here are the standard ratings for ingress by foreign objects and dust how to interpret them: IP0X: This rating indicates the item is not protected at all against ingress from foreign objects. IP1X: This rating stipulates the item is protected against access from the back of a hand and solid foreign objects that are greater than 50 mm (about 2 inches).

This is substantiated by ensuring a 50 mm probe has adequate clearance from hazardous parts and doesnt fully penetrate the item.

Testing is verified in each case by a testing engineer, whose job it is to inspect the tested item immediately after the test is completed to determine the result. Its very important that the test engineer be well-trained and knowledgeable in conducting the test and reporting the results.

CIL provides 'Ingress Protection Testing' services in Pune. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc.

CIL now has the capability to test all possible combinations (water drip, spray, jet, dust, solid probes), including the most severe IP68 (dust tight and protected against high water pressure, steam and water immersion).CIL have state of art testing facility Ingress Protection (IP) Testing. Ingress Protection (IP) Testing helps to determine a products susceptibility to solid particle (including dust) ingress and liquid (water) ingress. Within the IEC 60529 standard there is an international classification system to test the sealing effectiveness of enclosures of electrical equipment against the intrusion of solid particles and liquid. How is IP Rating denoted? IP IP is the Code letters X First Characteristics numeral Dust Protection (numerals 0-6 or latter X) X Second Characteristics numeral Water Protection (numeral 0-8 or latter X) C Additional Latter optional, letters A, B, C, DH Supplementary letters optional, letters H, M, S, W

Why Ingress Protection Testing (IP testing) is required? To assess the protection of the equipment against ingress of solid bodies and/or liquids such as sand, dust, and water. Classification system for Ingress Progress rating, solid objects and liquids. What products require Ingress Protection (IP) Testing: Products that require IP testing include computers, laboratory equipment, certain medical devices, light fixtures as well as products that must remain dust-free or moisture-resistant.

CIL lab offers Ingress Protection Testing services. Ingress protection testing assesses the degree to which products/enclosures protect the inner working parts against water, dust, and solids. IP testing is critical for a wide range of applications from cell phone cases and aerospace electronics to high-voltage transformers.

CIL provides 'Ingress Protection Testing' services in Ahmedabad. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc.

Ingress Protection Testing Many products undergo a variety of tests before they reach the market. These tests include product safety testing, electromagnetic compatibility, vibration testing and many others.

There are several reasons for ingress testing, including safety, functionality and product marketing Many products require insulation from outside elements in order to function properly. Those outside elements include mist, steam, sprayed water, sand, oil and even fingers, just to name a few. Ingress protection testing helps determine whether a particular product is going to function appropriately when placed in the field.

More Generalized Ingress Testing Some ingress testing is conducted under a variety of temperature and pressure settings.

What is Ingress Protection (IP)? An Ingress Protection (IP) rating refers to the degree of protection an electronic or electrical enclosure provides against external dust, fluid, insects, or other objects that may pass through into the product. IP testing helps ensure and validate a products enclosure will withstand moisture and dust and perform as expected in environments where extreme weather conditions are prevalent. Although ingress protection (IP) testing is voluntary, specifiers and purchasers often request an IP Rating in order to verify your lighting products acceptability for use in outdoor or industrial applications. We validate that your products enclosure will withstand moisture and dust, and will perform as expected in environments where these conditions are prevalent. With IP testing per IEC 60529, you can confidently stand by your performance claims. An Ingress Protection rating may be the additional proof of product quality verification that gives you the competitive advantage you seek. Download our white paper below for an insight on water/dust ingress testing and how it applies to the requirements specific to lighting products

What is IEC 60529? IEC 60529 (Degree of Protection Provided by Enclosures) is a general environmental IP standard for electrical equipment, including lighting, that is permanently mounted and not portable. IEC 60529 was developed to rate and grade enclosures of electric and electronic devices against the resistance of dust and liquids as well as how easy it is to access the potentially hazardous parts within the enclosure. IEC 60529 ratings enable a manufacturer to sell products in Europe and other locations outside of North America. The IP code is made up of two numerals: The first numeral indicates the level of protection from solid objects (dust) and is rated on a scale from 0 to 6The second number indicates the level of protection from fluid or water provided by the enclosure and uses a scale from 0 to 9Ingress protection testing CIL ingress protection tests include water spraying, splashing, flushing, submerging and condensation. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc. Performance Testing against Water and Dust Ingress CIL is accredited to perform Ingress Protection (IP) testing to IEC standard 60529, NEMA 250 testing, and UL 50E testing. Both UL testing and IP testing are typically performed on enclosures to determine the level of protection they provide against water, dust, ice, etc. Ingress Protection (IP) Testing IP testing rates and classifies the degree of protection the product provides against the intrusion of solid objects (i.e., body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water in the electrical enclosure or casing. The numbers (characteristic numerals) indicate conformity with the conditions outlined in the tables below. If there is no protection rating with regard to one of the criteria, the digit is replaced with the letter X. IP measures how well a device is protected from both solid objects and liquids.

For example, for IP57 and IP67, the first digit tells us how well the product is protected from solids. The second digit is about how resistant the product is to water. Ingress Protection (IP) Testing CIL has the capability to perform IP (Ingress Protection, also referred to as Intrusion Protection) testing per numerous standards, including IEC 60529. This testing is designed as a means to verify that your products internal components are adequately sealed and protected from the intrusion of foreign objects, liquids, and fine particles. This testing is also designed to ensure that the product user is protected from access to hazardous parts. The different levels of the IP Test allow you to determine, at different rates of flow (liters per minute), if your unit will hold up to the amount of water being sprayed at it, and to ensure the unit is safe from intrusion of foreign objects (such as fingers, etc.).

CIL can perform several IP Tests, such as: IP Standard CodesIPX1: Protected against falling water Equivalent to 3-5mm rainfall per minute for a duration of 10 minutes.IPX2: Protected against falling water when tilted up to 15 degrees Same as IPX1 but unit is tested in 4 fixed positions tilted 15 degrees in each direction from normal operating position.IPX3: Protected against spraying water Water spraying up to 60 degrees from vertical at 10 liters/min at a pressure of 80-100kN/m2 for 5 min.IPX4: Protected against splashing water Same as IPX3 but water is sprayed at all angles.IPX5: Protected against water jets Water projected at all angles through a 6.3mm nozzle flow rate of 12.5 liters/min at a pressure of 30kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters.IPX6: Protected against heavy seas Water projected at all angles through a 12.5mm nozzle at a flow rate of 100 liters/min at a 100kN/m2 pressure for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters.IPX7: Protected against water immersion Immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter.IPX8: Protected against water submersion Equipment suitable for continual submersion in water under conditions as specified by manufacturer.

IP1X: Protected against solid foreign objects of 50 mm diameter and greater.IP2X: Protected against solid foreign objects of 12.5 mm diameter and greater.IP3X: Protected against solid foreign objects of 2.5 mm diameter and greater.IP4X: Protected against solid foreign objects of 1.0 mm diameter and greater.IP5X: Dust-protected Ingress of dust is not totally prevented, but dust shall not penetrate in a quantity to interfere with satisfactory operation of the apparatus or to impair safety.IP6X: Dust-tight No ingress of dust.

The Ingress Protection rating (IP Rating) system is a classification system that in a nutshell, provides you with the levels of protection youre receiving from solid objects and liquids. The standard aims to provide users with more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof. In a perfect world, every device will be able to withstand sand, dust, and water to some extent, not all devices. The Ingress Protection rating classification system, for solid objects and liquids. The basic standards for IP rating are IS/IEC 60529.

The standard aims to provide users with more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof. The first digit represents protection against ingress of solid objects, while the second digit represents protection against ingress of liquids; the higher the value, the greater the protection. The test methods and definitions of the Ingress Protection (IP) Codes are covered under the EN 60529, EN60598 and EN60079-0 Standards. The ingress protection offered by enclosures should consist of the following: Protection of persons against access to hazardous parts. Protection of equipment inside the enclosures to ingress of solid foreign objects.Protection of equipment in the enclosures against harmful effects due to the ingress of water. The dust chamber provides ingress testing to the dust-protected (IP5X) and dust-tight (IP6X) categories, by applying a turbulent talc test with reduced pressure to the equipment to simulate cooling down (where applicable). One of the most commonly requested or required IP ratings is IP54. this is frequently required by both the Low Voltage Directive and ATEX Directive.

Ingress protection (IP) testing reduces the risk of product failure in the field by assessing the degree of protection provided against mechanical intrusion, dust, accidental contact and water into casings and enclosures.

IP codes are widely used to indicate the degree of water-proof and dustproof properties of electric equipment

The IP codes defined in IEC 60529 classifies the degree of protection against the ingress of foreign material (including steel balls, copper wire, water, dirt and dust) into the enclosure of electrical and mechanical products.

Ingress Protection Test- IP Testing

What Products Need Ingress Protection?

Ingress Protection Testing products include computers, laboratory equipment, certain medical devices, light fixtures as well as products that must remain dust-free or moisture-resistant. Items that are sealed and will likely be placed in hazardous places also need IP Testing.

CIL provides 'ingress protection testing' services in delhi. ip65 testing, ip67 testing, ip55 testing, etc.

The ratings for ingress by liquids: IPX0: This rating indicates the item is not protected at all against ingress by liquids. IPX1: This rating illustrates the item is protected against vertically-falling liquid drops, meaning any that fall on the item will have no harmful effect. IPX2: This rating extends IPX1 by ensuring protection against falling liquid drops at an angle up to 15 degrees' IPX3: This rating is given when an item is safe from ingress from spraying liquid. This is tested by spraying water at an angle up to 60 degrees of vertical and establishing that no harm came from this. The spray can come in an oscillating pattern with a flow rate that depends on the item tested. IPX4: This rating extends IPX3 to include protection against ingress from splashing liquids.

Some rating systems extend the second number to a possible 9, which indicates protection from steam-jet cleaning

CIL provides 'Ingress Protection Testing' services in Chennai. IP65 Testing, IP67 Testing, IP55 Testing, etc.

WHY CHOOSE CIL FOR INGRESS PROTECTION (IP) TESTING? The IP standard we test to is BS EN 60529:1992 +A2:2013. This standard, titled Degrees of Protection provided by IP Code, contains the criteria to assess equipment to its appropriate IP code. Many other standards from a wide range of industries reference the IP code including Marine, Rail, Transport and Medical. We can provide manufacturers with the following testing services: IP1x to IP6x (Protection against objects) IPx1 to IPx8 (Protection against liquids) We provide testing for IP to many specifications including the following common standards' EN 60529IEC 60945Any test not on our UKAS scope which is within our capability can be added quickly through our flexible schedule, which is a rare privilege granted to us by our accrediting authority.

Capabilities:IPX1 and IPX2: Test rig 1m working area. Larger items can be catered for at request. IPX3 to IPX6: Limited only by equipment able to fit into 5m x 6m x 4m (W x D x H) chamber. IPX7: Maximum test item size1mIPX8: Maximum test item size 600mm diameter. Maximum depth 50 m. IP1X to IP4X: Very few limitations with our test capabilitiesIP5X to IP6X: Dust testing performed at our partner laboratory. Many products are exposed to all kinds of environmental conditions. These conditions affect the intrusion of solids/dust and water into a product. How well is your product designed to resist water and solids/ dusts? Ingress Protection Rating The type and degree of ingress protection that an enclosure possesses is described by the Ingress Protection (IP) rating. Standardized tests are applied to obtain an IP rating.

The ratings come in two sets: One is for solid bodies (foreign objects and dust) (the first number after IP), and the other is for liquids (such as water) (the second number after IP). Testing & Test Plan Support CIL offers water and dust tests on a variety of products for the IEC 60529 standard. Customer specific test plans can be defined to include IP testing. The testing process is a 2-step procedure. The first step is the exposure of the device to either solids/dust or water, using a standardized protocol. The second step is the functional test. The latter can either be an optical inspection or a more dedicated functional test, either performed at our IP test facility or at the customer site.
