Principle
Pararosaniline in presence of phenol and detergent stains acid fast bacilli (AFB)
It retains its red-colored dye upon decolorization with 10% acetic acid during counter-stain with malachite green
All background gets bluish-green color except acid fast bacilli, which remain deep to light red colored
