The Kutchi embroidery is a handicraft and is one of the most easily identifiable styles of embroidery of Kutch District in Gujarat, India. This embroidery with its rich designs has made a notable contribution to the Indian embroidery traditions. To create elaborate patterns generally it is crafted from silk and woolen thread. The types of stitches adopted are “square chain, double buttonhole, pattern darning, running stitch, satin, and straight stitches”. The distinctive effect of the colorful embroidery sparkles when small mirrors and beads sewn over the geometrically shaped designs. A tribal crafted art of the Kutch embroidery which is now an artwork of international repute.
