Pennant can be of many types:-a usually narrow, tapering flag most commonly flown by ships at sea and sometimes called "pendants". Navies use a variety of pennants. A commissioning pennant, the traditional sign of a warship, flown from its masthead while the ship is in commission. A broad pennant, flown from the masthead of a royal navy ship to indicate the presence of a commodore on board. A church pennant, flown by navies during church services on board ships. In the united states navy it is flown above a flag of national colors. In team sports, a commemorative flag displayed or flown by a league-winning team. The last few weeks of the regular american professional baseball season, for instance, are known as the "pennant race". A reference to the pennant-shaped "no passing zone" traffic sign found in the united states, used to indicate the start of a two-lane highway where vehicles traveling in the same direction are not permitted to pass each other. Insignia (the plural of latin insigne: emblem, symbol) is a symbol or token of personal power, status or office, or of an official body of government or jurisdiction. Insignia are especially used as an emblem of a specific or general authority.

Tapestry is a form of textile art. It is woven by hand on a weaving-loom. The chain thread is the carrier in which the colored striking thread is woven. In this way, a colorful pattern or image is created. Most weavers use a naturally based chain thread made out of linen or wool. The striking threads can be made out of silk, wool, gold or silver, but can also be made out of any form of textile. Both craftsmen and artists have produced tapestries. The 'blueprints' on cartboard were made by a famous artist, while the tapestries themselves were made by the craftsmen.

A flag is a piece of coloured cloth flown from a pole or mast, usually for purposes of signaling or identification. Flags were initially created for signaling, such as semaphore, and for the identification of those who displayed them, and are still used for that purpose today. Flags are also used in messaging or advertising, or for decorative purposes, though at this less formal end the distinction between a flag and a simple cloth banner is blurred. Generally, a piece of cloth is a flag if it is flown like a flag, with one side attached, though many flags are recognizable if displayed in other forms. Flags are usually rectangular in shape, but may be of any shape or size that is practical for flying. Named shapes include square (e.g., the national flag of switzerland and the state flag of the vatican city), pennant, double pennant (e.g., the state flag of ohio), swallowtail, triangular or swallowtail burgee, gonfanon and oriflamme. A more unusual flag shape is that of the flag of nepal, which is in the shape of two stacked triangles.

A hair band is an article of clothing that is designed to be worn around or on a person's head. It generally consists of an oblong strip of fabric. Headbands may be worn around the head, passing on top of or just above the forehead. Usually this configuration is designed to absorb sweat and keep it from reaching the eyes when one is engaged in a physical activity. Often headbands used for this purpose are made of terrycloth, which form a continuous loop. Folded bandanas, usually knotted behind the head, also serve this purpose. They also may serve to keep the bangsfringe out of one's face when the person chooses to grow them out. Headbands may also be worn on top of the head. Often this is used to keep long hair from easily reaching the wearer's face. Headbands may be cloths that form a loop or cloth-covered plastic in a crescent shape. There is also specialized headbands that are designed to be worn covering the ears in order to protect them from cold weather. They tend to be broader and of heavier fabric. Headbands are often worn as fashion. Some headbands are adorned with hairbows or flowers and are commonly seen worn by female members of wedding parties. Headbands are a popular fashion accessory for young girls. Headbands often project certain connotations. During the 1980s, headbands could be associated with rock and roll music, particularly with bruce springsteen. Headbands are often seen in sports and in the martial arts, and are also referred to as sweatbands.
