Graphite machining is used to create the tubes using processes such as extrusion, compression molding, or isostatic pressing. Each technique produces unique grades of graphite, useful for different purposes. Extruded or pressed graphite is often used in manufacturing operations. Graphite rods and plates that are isostatically crushed have substantially finer graphite particles and smoother surfaces. They are cut to required sizes, shapes, diameters and length.Typically finer grain graphite is used to fabricate graphite rods, however high density and coarse grain stock is available for applications where a smooth surface or finish is not necessarily required.
