Pomegranates are widely cultivated throughout the Middle East and Caucasus region, North and tropical Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, Central Asia, the drier parts of Southeast Asia, and the Mediterranean Basin. However Pomogranate was originated from Mediterranean region.  In India Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat are major growing states. In terms of production Maharashtra stands number one in position. Pomogranate is mainly used as Table purpose because of rich nutritional as well as Medicinal Value. Bhagava, Ganesh, Bhagava Super, Arakta are major varieties grown for export purpose because of large fruit size, soft seeds and deep red aerials.

Grape cultivation is believed to have originated in Armenia near the Caspian Sea in Russia, from where it spread westward to Europe and eastward to Iran and Afghanistan. Grape was introduced in India in 1300 AD by invaders from Iran and Afghanistan.
