Rod Seals, Piston Seals Hydraulic cylinders are being used in mechanical applications where reciprocating forces and movements are needed. Sealing element is one of the most important parts of the cylinders. The sealing elements are being installed into the respective groove with a preload. the sealing element in free state, preload after the assembly of the seal and the free space needed in the housing. The sealing element is able to work in low pressures due to this preload. the pressurized media filling into the groove and sealing element is expanded with this pressure. Sealing elements are produced from such materials that can change their form when force is applied and can return to the original form when this force disappears. In this respect sealing elements are produced from elastomers, thermoplastics or thermoplastic elastomers.[

The area between the sealing edge and the shaft is the most important. The sealing effect is achieved by preloading the sealing lip, making its internal diameter slightly smaller than the shaft diameter The garter spring ensures constant pressure and maintains the radial force to the shaft, flattening the sealing edge to a defined width. Underneath this flattened area a thin fluid film is formed. Its thickness must be between 1 and 3 m to avoid leakage. The meniscus acts as an interface between the outside air and the fluid. Any break in the meniscus will result in leakage. This can occur if the shaft contains scratches along the seal path.

Hydraulic Seals were earliers used in the Hydraulic Cylinders but with the passage of the time and new technological changes its used has come to halt and now its used only with the air cylinders and pneumatic cylinders.

It has a special filled PTFE ring with a pre-loaded lip energised by an O ring. The lip is designed to have a contact area with the rod adequate to retain the media at low pressure. As high pressure acts on the O ring it compresses the lip against the rod increasing the contact area and the effectiveness of the seal.

The special PTFE ring has the low frictional properties normally associated with this material but is strengthened by additives to reduce creep. It has a low breakout friction so stick-slip is eliminated.

Standard seals are supplied with a nitrile O ring but other materials can be provided. For the best results it is recommended two seals are fitted. The PTFE ring should always be mounted with the sealing lip on the pressure side. A number of material options can be provided to extend operating conditions.

Wiper Seals is widely used as the dust covers in the Hydraulic Cylinders. Wiper Seals come in the Metal, Rubber and Polyurethane.

Closed Seals is one of the new product introduced in the market. It is used widely in the gear boxes instead of oil seals.

Cup Seals is one of the old method used in hydraulic cylinders as hydraulic seals.

Pneumatic Seals are widely used in the pneumatic cylinders also called air cylinders.
