Diamond Burs are rotary cutting instruments used to remove the tooth structure by chipping or grinding away the tooth. They have anti- oxidant stainless steel body with monocrystalline purified diamond. This monocrystalline diamond has fewer corners that are clear and sharp. Even if the corners are broken, they create other new abrasive corners. The diamond particle size of 25 microns meters are used for finishing and polishing the restoration and 100 micron meters are used for cavity preparation.

Inlay burs rotary cutting instruments are used in indirect restorations. They help in accurate design preparations.

Knife- edge burs have a pointed end with a tapered fissure. They are easy to handle. They are used to provide knife-edge margins.
