thesmelting unit is designed to recover the lead by processing lead bearing material from spent lead acid batteries. to recover the lead from lead bearing materials, it is necessary to carry out the chemical reactions at rotary furnace in presence of reagents at high temperature to remove the oxygen and sulphur elements from lead oxide and sulphate from lead bearing material. this is basically reductionprocess

The refined or alloyed finished lead is casted in form of ingots of weight of approximately 25 Kgs in cast iron moulds on ingot casting machine which are cooled by water spray and blow of air. The molten refined or alloyed lead is taken out from kettle by means of gravity/pump in to launder which is mainly a conveyor machine of casting moulds. The molten lead is poured into moulds through Distributor continuously and during conveying molten lead gets solidified with water and air cooling. the smelting unit is designed to recover the lead by processing lead-bearing material from spent lead-acid batteries. to recover the lead from lead-bearing materials, it is necessary to carry out the chemical reactions at rotary furnace in presence of reagents at high temperatures to remove the oxygen and sulphur elements from lead oxide and sulfate from lead-bearing material. this is basically a reduction process. wood charcoal or petroleum coke (coal) is the most commonly used reducing agents in the lead recycling industry. due to chemical reactions at the furnace, slag is formed which is having a high melting point and viscous in fluidity. in order to make its melting point lower and have good fluidity, fluxing agent soda ash/sodium carbonate with iron chips is added in a specified quantity.

the refining of lead is the pyro-metallurgical process for lead refining, producing lead with a purity level up to 99.97% or lead alloy as per requirement from tapped crude lead from smelting furnace. the purity level is subjected to the concentration of bismuth and silver present in the tapped crude lead. d air is discharged the exit duct from scrubber. further acidic water is treated at the neutralization section & water is recycled.
