Talc is a soft, nonabrasive, inert mineral that can be ground easily (flaky habit) to form white and bright (>78 GE) fine to micronized powder that acts as a functional filler (paint; plastics; paper; rubber; adhesives; joint compounds; stucco; pharmaceuticals).
