Pickling & Passivation Compound

SteelMATTis a product of extensive research and development by ATS to stop contamination & corrosion on Stainless Steel (SS) at the same time to give superior MAT texture and aesthetically superior appearance on SS. It's the revolutionize innovation to change the surface area of SS for strong, better and long serving.

CAPACITY: Typically, 1 Liter of SteelMATT solution will methodically treat about 3-4 Sq Meters equivalent of surface area.

APPLICATION METHOD : USER FRIENDLY APROACH The product is available in ready to use formulation for application on chemical equipment by any of the following methods :

By Deeping

By Swabbing with sponge

By Spraying

The solution should be used at room temperature.

THE PROCESS The process calls for the following sequence

Degreasing the surface /plant if required or wash with normal water.

Dip the component in SteelMATT. let the solution react with the surface for about 20-25 minutes. (You may apply SteelMATT by swabbing followed by water cleaning).

Spray wash with normal water water rinsing (500-700 PSI)

Dry surface with hot air for optimum result.

CHEMICALS & PRECAUTION The ASTM 380 calls for several chemistry for pickling and passivation. It is very easy to use and no damage if hand is deeped into it. But we recommend the operator to ware gloves when using. The chemical when fresh has pH of 1.90 and the same is to be discarded at pH 5.5 neutralize with water or lime slurry.

The operators must ware Rubber gloves, Eye glasses and Avoid skin connection.

AVAILABILITY We undertake a turnkey job of Pickling-cum-Passivation of SS equipments - vessels / tanks / heat exchangers / reactors / Pipelines / Machines etc. at your site.

The solution is also available in 20/35/50/200 liters HDPE containers.

It has a flash point of 46.1C, Vapour pressure of 1.7mm og Hg at 25C and Evaporation rate of 20 ( Based on Butyl Acetate =1).

Rust Remover Corprevent

Crores of rupees are lost each year because of rust /corrosion. Much of this loss is due to the corrosion of iron and steel, although many other metals may corrode as well.

The problem with iron as well as many other metals is that the oxide formed by oxidation does not firmly adhere to the surface of the metal and flakes off easily causing "pitting". Extensive pitting eventually causes structural weakness and disintegration of the metal. Trust is a chemical formulation developed specially to remove rust from the surface of metal and to form a layer to protect rust formation.

Conventional Method of Removing Rust When iron or steel starts to rust, it will puff up and expose clean metal to the open air, allowing rust to continue to the depths of the metal. In grinding, polishing and buffing, labor is a major variable in the process. The requirement if for highly skilled labor with years of experience and a thorough knowledge of the art of their craft. We offer complete job work at your site with our highly trained team.

Polishing is an intermediate step used to improve the surface finish from the grinding step, such as found on a common household stainless steel sink - lustrous, but not mirror-like. Polishing uses abrasives firmly attached to a flexible backing, such as a wheel, belt or orbital motion tool.

Mechanical stainless steel polishing is an abrading operation used to remove or smooth grinding lines, scratches, pits, mold marks, parting lines, tool marks, stretcher strains, and surface defects that adversely affect the appearance or function of the part. The process causes some plastic working of the surface as metal is removed. A mechanically polished surface yields an abundance of scratches, strains, metal debris and embedded abrasives, and always distorts the metal surface. Burnishing metal by lapping or buffing decreases the micro-inch roughness and improves the image-defining quality of a surface, but it never completely removes the debris and damage metal caused by mechanical polishing.

KEY POINTS Any mechanically produced surface produces a work hardened, disturbed and damaged grain layer. This is accompanied by a scratched, sheared, and torn surface contaminated with embedded abrasives and compounds. Its importance depends on its application. From a cosmetic appearance standpoint, these effects may be unimportant. For high purity applications, e.g., semiconductor or pharmaceutical, particles and contaminants can be of utmost importance affecting purity of product and yield. Often it takes a SEM photomicrograph at very, very high magnification to show these effects - but it is there. A desirable alternative to be considered is electropolishing for which Mechanical polishing is advisable.

Weld Scale Remover Of Fabricates

Welded joints of stainless steels produce a heavy tightly adherent oxide film, usually referred to as Welding Scale.

The removal of this scale is known as PICKLING. Where as PASSIVATION is a process on Stainless Steel by virtue of which, a passive film is formed on it when it comes in contact with atmospheric air. This film, stabilized by chromium, is considered to be continuous, non porous, insoluble and self-healing.

Application of WSR-300 on weld joints of Stainless Steels has following advantages.

Removal of oxide scales from welded joints (performs PICKLING)

Formation of passive layer on SS (performs PASSIVATION)

Removal of iron particles from weld surface (PASSIVATION requirement) APPLICATION METHOD Remove slag properly from weld joint. (Slag Prevents quality of pickling and passivation)

Degrease and clean weld joint by suitable solvent to remove dirt, dust, grease, oil, crayon marking and other contaminants. (For best results, use our solvent cleaner SOLVE 1)

Ensure that the joint is at room temperature. Use bristle brush and gently apply the WSR-300 solution so that the solution reaches even the cavities on the joint. Apply such that the heat tinted zone on one inch, either side of the joint is also covered. (Even apply two/three coats of this solution where welding discoloration is high)

Let the solution react with metal for 2/3 minutes. Do not expose joint to sunlight. (Excess reaction time will have no adverse effect on the joint)

Thoroughly rinse the joint with the water fill till the solution is removed. Any visible seale can be removed with SS wire brush.
